A Marine’s son stole the show at his father’s wedding when he burst into tears of joy in a now-viral video that has captured the hearts of people across the internet.

The four-year-old Gage was overcome with emotion when his stepmother Emily Leehan read special vows she wrote for her new son. She told him, “I want you to be safe and to try your hardest and to be a good person,” and that “I know that you and I will butt heads, except for right now. But I hope, with all my heart, that as you become a grown man, you will understand my methods and realize I’ve only done what is best for you and that I love you.”

The young boy quickly began to cry and ran into his stepmother’s arms.

“The last thing that I hope you learn is that you are a very special boy,” she continued to say to her stepson. “You are so extremely smart, handsome and kind to others. You have helped make me into the woman I am today, and I may not have given you the gift of life, but life surely gave me the gift of you.”

The whole crowd, including father Joshua Newville, were emotional from hearing these special vows.

“I was thinking ‘don’t cry’ and was just trying to comfort Gage,” his father said to TODAY after reflecting about his special day. “It truly means something when someone who has no involvement in creating Gage loves him as if she did. I was just very proud and happy and excited.”

Newville and Leehan met three years ago at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Trenton, New Jersey, and their wedding took place in Quincy Cellars in Ripley, New York with 130 close friends and family members.

Gage apparently later stole the hearts of his father’s wedding guests again when he wore a special Darth Vader mask as he entered the reception while the theme song played overhead. People were absolutely loving everything his son was doing!

“Overall, he stole the show for the whole day,” Leehan reflected on their celebratory day.

While there is no honeymoon planned for the newlyweds, it seems like they’ve made plenty of memories already with their incredible new family. Congrats to the couple and their incredible son and their long future together!
