Proud Dad Of Marine Son Upset About Nasty Note Left On Car
Lewis couldn’t be more proud of his son serving his country. That’s why the note left on his car made him cry.

Heading off to war is a polarizing thing. It seems that you’re either for it, or against it. Quite often, people are very for, or very against it. That makes sense. It’s a tapestry of big questions: Is it ethical to go to war? Which wars are worth fighting? Who is responsible for the casualties?

Oftentimes these questions, when unanswered can manifest in aggression, and that can be taken out in a number of ways. One startling way it manifested, was when Lewis Alexander, a military dad in Deltona, Florida found a striking note on the bonnet of his car with the following obscene message:

“F**k you and your son, I hope he dies”

It was a striking message for the father, who was shocked and appalled.

The note was targeted at the car because of their window stickers, reading “My son is a Marine”, and “Proud parent of a US Marine”. It’s clear that whoever wrote the note had an issue with the US military, and with supporting our overseas military activity.

While some see stickers such as these as a display of pride, some see them as something one should not be proud of.

It’s clear that these parents are very proud of their son, and of their country. Lewis wears a United States Marine Corps (USMC) cap brandishing the US flag, and wearing a USMC shirt. His patriotism and national pride is obvious.

Lewis’ son is currently serving overseas.

After finding the note, Lewis says that he was so upset that he called the sheriff’s department to report the incident. It’s clear that the note struck a nerve with the father. This is certainly a hateful message to receive regarding someone who’s safety you already fear for.

The marine’s mother, Tami Alexander was understandably also hurt by the note and defended her son’s decision to join the military:

“He wanted to make a difference in the world, and this was his choice”

The couple had no way to react, except to call the sheriff’s department and report the incident.

Lewis felt personally attacked by the note. Hard not to be, when the note is directed at you!

“It really hit me that, wow, this person’s evil!”

Whether or not this note was an act of evil, petty vandalism or targeted aggression it must be hurtful to read such a condemning message.

Mr. Alexander continues to defend his son’s deployment, and his decision to go to war.

“My son’s serving to protect that person’s right to do that” he explains, at a loss for why someone would go out of their way to say such things.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office posted the note to their own Facebook page to denounce the message and support those serving the US.

Although the sheriff’s office wished to support the family of military personnel, there was nothing they could officially do about this incident, since no crime had actually been committed. While an action like this is aggressive and hurtful, no actions taken by the offenders have constituted a crime. In short, there was nothing they could do.
