Dancing Couple Earns Four Yeses After Simon Thought They’d Be “Awful”
This fun-loving couple really did pull a fast one on the judges. I love David’s comment most of all – but he sure made Simon uncomfortable at the end.

Unlike with singing competitions, you never know what kind of acts are going to cross the stage of Britain’s Got Talent. So when an older couple emerged it was anybody’s guess as to the type of audition that was going to take place.

61-year-old Dave and 58-year-old Margaret look like just a regular set of grandparents. However, they actually have a pretty amazing talent that they practice together.

Dave and Marg both work as market traders and have been married for 38 years. But don’t let their day jobs fool you into believing they’re “uptight.”

The pair entered the spotlight in front of everyone with huge smiles on their faces. As it turns out, Dave and Marg actually took up the hobby of dancing after their daughter bought them classes.

While they’d been performing together for two years, auditioning on BGT would be on a whole other level. The judges watched Dave and Marg curiously as they prepared for their routine.

Did they actually have showstopping moves, or would it be a dull and boring act that would earn itself an X?

The moment the music began to play, it seemed like everyone had their answer. Frank and Nancy Sinatra’s classic song “Somethin’ Stupid” boomed through the auditorium.

Dave was dressed in a cap and jacket, while Marg wore a brown trenchcoat. Their dance moves too were just as drab as their attire.

In a slow rhythm – they stretched out their arms, shuffled their feet, and performed a tandem spin. All mouths were on the floor (but not in a good way). Simon’s face really said it all.

Fortunately, they were keeping a secret up their sleeve.

Just before the crowd fell asleep, or they received a big red X, Dave and Marg’s act took a major shift. Suddenly, Tina Turner’s rendition of “Proud Mary” took the place of the other song – and the couple came to life!

Marg ripped off her overcoat to reveal a red tassel dress. Dave too had been hiding an alternative outfit under his jacket, which made him look a lot more like a professional dancer.

The duo went to town performing a hot jive routine that lit the stage on fire.

Everyone cheered as Dave and Marg danced with energy for the rest of the audition. Those tricksters had us fooled, they’re really spectacular dancers!

Just when you think the act couldn’t get any more entertaining, it ends with a bit of humor.

Dave makes a grand finale move of sliding under his wife, only to come out the other end holding up her bright pink knickers! So, what did the judges think of their fun and animated performance?

Dave and Marg listened as their act was called “brilliant” and “joyful” – receiving three “yeses.” Then it was Simon’s turn to cast his vote.

He tells the couple,

“You know, I thought you were gonna be awful. I mean, it wasn’t Swan Lake… But I prefer it to Swan Lake.”

Oh Simon, he couldn’t help himself now, could he? He too gave Dave and Marg a “yes,” sending them off to the next round!

The grandparents of three were overwhelmed by their whole experience on BGT. Dave told Express & Star:

“We have danced in competitions before but being in front of the judges and an audience, I just went blank. I can’t even remember any of the comments! It was just an incredible experience.”

It’s an audition that will keep you on the edge of your seat – and make you chuckle too. Press play below to watch the couple blow everyone away!
