12-years of marriage – gone
One day, Kevin Howard’s wife walked up to him asking for a divorce. They have been married for more than 12 years and suddenly she breaks the news to him.

“It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face — it was like someone calling you and telling you that a family member had tragically died,” Kevin Howard told WITN.
Kevin was of course stunned.
“She had originally told me that she wanted a divorce because I work too much, wasn’t around to be there and I worked too much. I talked about that as part of my mistake in the situation, but it was like a punch in the gut because I thought I had this trust for 12 years and love,” said Kevin Howard to WITN.
Even though Kevin’s wife agreed to undergo marriage counseling, Kevin felt that something was off. Call it a man’s intuition.
He hired a private investigator and his suspicions were validated.
Alienation of affections
Kevin Howard believes in the sanctity of marriage and infidelity is certainly something that he despises – yet he was given the evidence that he needed. His wife is cheating with her co-worker.
“It was the hardest thing of ever had to face, it was like someone calling you and telling you that a family member had tragically died.”
Immediately, Kevin filed a case against his wife’s lover, someone whom he knew.
“He came to my house and ate dinner with us. We shared stories we talked about personal lives.”
Kevin has faced his worst fears and the pain is just starting. He filed “alienation of affection” or for what others know as one of the “homewrecker” laws.
Instead of being scared, the man was said to laugh at the case presented to him.
According to Cindy Mills, Kevin’s lawyer, the defendant even laughed at the charges against him. Thinking it was hilarious to be sued for “alienation of affection”. After the judge has announced the verdict – he didn’t have any reason to laugh at the subject again.
Howard wins
Kevin won the case and is now $750,000 richer.
To win this case, the prosecution should prove that their client’s marriage was okay and happy before the “other man” entered the picture.
“I filed the case because I feel that it’s very important that people understand that the sanctity of marriage is important especially in this day and age when people question everyone’s morals people questions everyone’s liability of a person and the state backed me up on it,” said Kevin Howard to WITN.
Cheating doesn’t have a valid reason; it’s a choice of two people who doesn’t have respect for their partners. Then, they should also be ready for the consequences of their decisions.
