America’s Got Talent has seen its fair share of emotional acts. But only every once in a while there’s one so soul-stirring, it drives the entire room to tears.
30-year-old Chris Kläfford is a musician from Sweden who sports long hair and a bushy beard. When he walked onto the stage of AGT, not everyone knew what to expect.
Chris grew up in a tiny town with a passion for music. However, his parents didn’t necessarily support his dream.
Unlike his brothers, Chris felt he’d rather pursue his singing talent than work just an “everyday job.” Instead of joining the family business, he decided to take a different road.
The Swedish singer would play gigs at small bars, and also worked at a store to help make ends meet. Eventually, his dad came around and began motivating Chris to not give up.
Having the chance to perform on America’s Got Talent was an opportunity that could change his life.
Chris spoke with the judges on stage beforehand, who seemed to be intrigued. As we know though, the big question is – did he really have any talent?
It was time to find out.
He started by strumming his guitar to the epic John Lennon song, “Imagine.” Yet, it was when Chris Kläfford began singing that everyone sat like statues.
You see, Chris has a beautiful voice that could melt ice into water (he actually won Swedish Idol in 2017). It’s so powerful that after only a few moments, it had an effect on the crowd.
Everyone seemed mesmerized by Chris’ performance as if he were truly touching their hearts. Mixed with the peaceful lyrics of “Imagine” created an energy that left not a dry eye in the house.
Chris sang:
“You may say that I’m a dreamer – but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us – and the world will be as one.”
The late John Lennon co-wrote “Imagine” with his wife Yoko Ono in 1971. It’s been covered by many talented artists – and was named, “one of the top 100 most-performed songs of the 20th century” by BMI.
The judges were so moved by his rendition that they jumped to their feet at the end. During the applause, Chris’ eyes welled up too.
Howie was the first to react to Chris’ audition. He said,
“You know how they say, sing from the heart? You wore your heart on your sleeve, we could all feel it…”
Simon had positive words to say about his spin on the classic:
“What I loved about you was what you did with the song, with your vocal. I love people who can reinterpret a song. And you did something special with it just then – it was incredible.”
All four judges gave the Swedish singer “yeses” to move to the next round of the competition. For Chris, you could tell it was the results he had dreamed of.
Since the airing of his audition, it’s gone viral. Viewers on YouTube can’t get enough of the singer, nor his performance.

Another commenter expressed:
