Matthias Nebel had the audience going nuts when he auditioned with a Bon Jovi classic on The Voice of Germany. In fact, everyone loved his performance so much that he was begged for an encore (which is a rare honor indeed).
Since Matthias’ blind audition was posted online it’s spread like wildfire, being viewed more than 20 million times in less than a year. Get ready for an epic rendition that’s leaving people all over the world chilled!
It was during season eight of the singing competition that Matthias’ viral performance took place.
We all know in order to advance on reality TV shows like The Voice, it’s important that contestants – well, have an amazing voice. However, if you’re able to wow the judges with your song choice too, then that’s just icing on the cake.
Matthias stepped in front of the crowd with plans to sing his favorite rock ballad, “Bed of Roses.” Little did he know though, that several of the judges were huge fans of the song as well!
Within the first few lines, two of the celebrity coaches perked up and were singing along. It only took moments, however, for the entire panel to realize just how talented Matthias was.
Bon Jovi released “Bed of Roses” in 1992, which exploded into a big hit for the group. After the band’s successful career in the 80s, it was a track that showed fans a maturer side.
In 2019, their video alone has more than 166 million views.
Matthias had the judges on the edge of their seats as he performed the song we’ve all heard time and time again. Frankly, he sounds a lot like Bon Jovi himself.
Once Matthias gets to the line “baby you’re all that I need” at 1:08 – he sings it with such power two of the red buttons get slammed.
It quickly turns into a mini rock concert that has the other judges flipping their chairs around as well. Some of the coaches are so into the performance they can’t contain their excitement on stage.
Finally, the song comes to a close and Matthias receives a standing ovation from the crowd. Apparently though, they hadn’t of seen enough…
They begin chanting in German and one of the judges yells out – causing the music to come back on.
It was an audition encore that’s rarely seen on competition shows like The Voice.
Much to everyone’s delight, Matthias jumped back into singing “Bed of Roses” – a rendition that’s spreading goosebumps across the internet. Even his father was emotional backstage seeing how much he was loved by the audience.
After the encore, Matthias smiles and addresses everyone in German. One YouTube user took the time to let us all know what he said. They wrote:
“For those wanting to know what he says at 2:50, it basically translates into English as, “You guys are the very, very best!”
Thousands of people have also shared comments on The Voice of Germany’s YouTube channel – most of which are positive. One common thing is that many viewers are watching the performance over and over again.
“Bon Jovi would go crazy watching this. Literally, one of the best blind auditions not only in Germany but in entire globe. I just broke the replay button.”
