Not to sound clichรฉ, but when thereโ€™s a will, thereโ€™s a way.

Such was the case in Fort Worth, Texas when a man was barred entry to a hospital to wish his wife a happy birthday. COVID-19 safety regulations are necessarily tight, making it practically impossible to visit hospitalized loved ones in certain cases.

But now, thereโ€™s nothing but smiles outside the Tally residence. Why? Because Momโ€™s coming home.

The day she was released, friends and family met her outside her home, carrying gifts, signs, and glad tidings.

But two weeks prior, Lisa and her family learned some startling news โ€“ she has Stage 3 ovarian cancer. She was soon checked into the hospital for observation.

On a recent Saturday afternoon โ€“ coincidentally the same day as Lisaโ€™s birthday, husband Jim received a call,

โ€œSaturday was her birthday. Saturday morning at 12:52 am, I get a call from the doctor andโ€ฆ um, sheโ€™s going into emergency surgery, somethingโ€™s wrong. Thereโ€™s some type of complication. Ya know, canโ€™t visit.โ€

But for the moment, her familyโ€™s overjoyed just to have the chance to see her.

Everyoneโ€™s so excited. Sheโ€™s truly loved.

Jim recalls his inability to enter the hospital. But he wasnโ€™t going to let that stop him from seeing her on her birthday,

โ€œNothing was gonna stop me. I was gonna see my wife and I was gonna sing โ€˜Happy Birthday.'โ€

Heโ€™s gonna do everything in his power to give her a wonderful birthday memory.

At the time, Lisa was staying at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. The pandemic has made visiting especially difficult in hospitals, especially for those with compromised immune systems.

Although Jim technically canโ€™t get in to see her, there are other options.

Brian Tally, Jimโ€™s son, explains what comes next,

โ€œWeโ€™re in the construction business. and somebody had a good idea of letโ€™s go say hi to mom through the window so we loaded up the truck and drove it out there. And it looked real official and didnโ€™t get stopped by anybody and got to see our mom.โ€

Now thatโ€™s thinking outside of the box.

A group of them proceed to hop on a mechanical lift and go to Lisa (at a safe, healthy distance of course).

Theyโ€™re able to spot her window. She doesnโ€™t know whatโ€™s coming.

This might be a coronavirus first โ€“ happy birthday via mechanical lift.

Jim uses a megaphone to send his cheer,

โ€œHappy birthday. I love you. I told you Iโ€™d go to the moon and Iโ€™m not leaving your side. I love you babe. I love you honey. They wonโ€™t let me in, but Iโ€™m coming up!โ€

Jim hits her with the sweet talk, not holding anything back. He loves her from the bottom of his heart.

Thatโ€™s some true love.

Jim wasnโ€™t going to let anything hold him back from seeing the love of his life. The impossible combination of coronavirus and cancer couldnโ€™t even stop him.

The gesture made Lisaโ€™s day โ€“ a memory sheโ€™ll deeply appreciate for the rest of her life. She has a wonderful, loving husband.

When it comes to the well-being of a loved one, all else falls by the wayside. Even in the face of adversity, when thereโ€™s a will, thereโ€™s a way.
