Nobody ever wants to think of their spouse or partner passing away someday, but the sad truth is that one will go before the other.
Instead of worrying about how different things would be without them, we should all spend more time appreciating them while we have them.
One woman recently shared a heartbreaking photo of a widower having Valentine’s Day with his deceased wife’s ashes. He sat across the table from her ashes and even ordered her a glass of wine. He seems too upset to even enjoy his dinner.
Even after his meal is placed in front of him, he doesn’t start eating.
Instead, he put his face into his hands and appears to be crying. A man sitting at a restaurant table with his wife’s ashes is not something you see every day. The thought of it is just unbearably sad. The image touched Chasidy Gwaltney, and she decided to take a photo and share it on Facebook.
On the post she wrote:
“You know? We are all guilty of taking our other half for granted from time to time. We may forget to give a goodbye kiss, say I love you or just be so caught up in what we are doing at the moment that we don’t notice the very little things that mean so much to our special someone.
“I saw something today that has made me remember that we won’t always have each other to hold, talk to, love, play with or even just aggravate every now and then.
“This picture speaks loudly, and it may hurt your heart as it has mine. This man looks like he is spending Valentine’s Day alone at first glance, but that is actually his wife in that very beautiful bottle sitting on the table.
“Apparently, his love for her was and still is very strong as he takes her ashes out for a Valentine’s lunch date together. He even bought her a glass of wine….
“Please love your Sweetheart while you have the opportunity, you never know what tomorrow will bring or take away!
“Happy Valentine’s Day All!!!”
The image was shared 422,000 times and had almost half a million interactions.
The photo has gone viral, and most people are touched by it. It’s not every day that you get a reminder of how precious life really is and have a wakeup call about loving the people in your life.
We are all guilty of arguing and being mad at our partners for petty things.
Most of us would even admit that we take them for granted. Photos like this remind us how special they are and how much they mean to us. That could be any of us on the other side of the table.
Let this image inspire you to do something nice for your spouse or partner.
Tell them you love them today and make each moment with them count. Someday, it will be the little things like lunch or dinner that you miss the most. This man clearly loved his wife and it’s obvious that he misses her very much. Hopefully, he finds some comfort in knowing that his photo may have helped others realize how good they have it.
