When you win big on the lottery, you just feel like you can do whatever you want, no matter how eccentric it is. And who cares what anyone else thinks? You’re rich!
If you became a millionaire overnight, what would you do?

Just think, you could march into the office the next day, tell your boss what you really think of him, trash the place and storm out.
Instead of the daily grind, the next few weeks will be spent buying cars, clothing, vacations and mansions.

But first, you have to collect your winnings. How do you do this in style?
One man decided to show the world just how free he was now that he was a millionaire, in a really weird way.
A. Campbell won the Jamaican lottery in 2019. A. Campbell is the only name he’s ever given. No one knows what the A stands for, or if that’s even his real initial. And before he even collected his money, things started to get weird.
First of all, he didn’t come to collect his $1.1 million ( 158 million Jamaican dollars) in winnings for almost two months.
He would later say that he didn’t pick up his winnings for so long because the win made him sick. Initially, his head hurt from overthinking of what he would do with all the cash. That then turned into a chronic belly ache.
But eventually, he was able to overcome this wealth-related illness and show up to collect his cash. And just in case anyone had any doubts that A. Campbell was an odd individual, he decided to dress up as a murderer.

He showed up on the day wearing the Halloween mask from the movie series Scream. It’s the famous Ghostface mask is still a popular costume choice for many come late October.
So Jamaican TV broadcast someone dressed up like a horror character brandishing a gigantic check for a vast sum of money.

It’s fair to say that many of the kids in Jamaica had nightmares that night.
And of course, a number of officials from the lottery had to pose next to the horror character/millionaire. It’s fair to say that they all looked incredibly awkward.

A. Campbell’s unusual disguise may make for an entertaining story, but his reasons behind dong this are sound. Like many lottery winners, he was worried that his newfound wealth would make him a target of strangers seeking to get his wealth, either through coercion or violence.
Many people must have been put off from contacting A. Campbell claiming to be his long lost relative after they thought that he could be a psycho killer.

Instead, A. Campbell will be able to spend the money on the things that he wants. He plans to buy an apartment and invest the rest of the money into his own business. Although, if A. Campbell conducts job interviews wearing this costume, he may have trouble growing the business!
People online have been quick to joke about the situation.
There are many hilarious comments below news reports of the eccentric winner. People have been saying things like this:

In many ways, we should be thankful for eccentric people like A. Campbell.
If the world didn’t have people who decided to do weird stuff like this, then it would surely be a more boring place!
