Inner beauty is more important than outer beauty.
Looks fade over time.
We’ve heard all of these things before but they truly do hold merit.
People with unattractive personalities (rude, mean, etc.), can make their physical traits play second fiddle to what’s on the inside.
Nobody is going to look the same in their 50s as they did in their 20s (albeit, some come pretty close). It’s just the cycle of life.
So when a couple has been together and in love for over 30 years, and still look into each other’s eyes with infinite passion and acceptance, they’ve undoubtedly learned the lessons stated above.
Take Jane and her husband. The two have been married for “33 glorious years” but dated for four years before that. But they still tease, smile, and laugh with each other like high school sweethearts.
“We met in high school. In my freshman year in college, he was a junior and that’s when we got together,” Jane says.
Her husband admitted that Jane wasn’t the first woman he’s proposed to. In school, he had a crush on the upperclassmen but wasn’t taken seriously by any of them. So, he decided to propose to all of the older girls he liked, while he was just an 8th grader.
“What 8th grader that proposes is not serious?” he says with a serious face. Jane sits by his side, smiling.
He continues, “Jane isn’t the first woman I proposed to but she is the first woman I proposed to that did not say no.”
The two lock eyes and laugh.
“I thought he was cute and nice but just really immature.”
He looks at her, “And now?”
She blushes, “Still immature.”
They both burst with laughter.
This is the type of relationship they have relied on to get through those 30 plus years: fun, light, playful, and loving.
But Jane wanted a change. She wanted her husband to get a makeover from the makeup guru, Christopher Hopkins, aka the MAKEOVERGUY. But he wouldn’t come unless she did.
There is nothing wrong with the way Jane and her husband look now. Though, Jane doesn’t seem as confident as her outgoing husband who isn’t shy in the least.
While she seems more reserved than her husband, they balance each other out perfectly in that she can clearly keep up with the jokester when need be.
“I love my wife the way she looks and I actually like her hair when she does nothing to it.”
“I don’t want him to look too good ‘cause then he’ll get big-head(ed).”
Before we know it, a magic wand “zings”, and their makeovers are complete.
To no surprise, they look AMAZING! Together, they look stunningly gorgeous!
What’s even better is that they can’t seem to take their eyes off each other. They’re glowing even more than they were before, which didn’t seem possible.
“I think he looks fabulous. I told him he could be on GQ,” Jane seems a little nervous everytime she looks at her husband. It’s a sight to see. She can’t stop smiling.
“Really good,” she continues.
They stop and lock eyes, her husband nods silently. He turns to the camera and says, “We gotta go,” before getting up.
Jane laughs. He sits back down and stares back at his wife.
“She’s beautiful isn’t she? I believe my wife is beautiful. She always has been on the inside but today, the outer beauty is shining through.”
Now, if this couple doesn’t make you believe in true love, nothing will. The love and respect between them is clearly an important ingredient in their marriage.
The MAKEOVERGUY has done it again, giving those who are already beautiful the joy of feeling confident in their outer appearance.
Hopkins said it best, “we think they’re a perfect example of how to keep things alive by keeping up your appearance.”
A change doesn’t hurt when the love is already there.
