Itโs unfortunate when bad things happen to good people. Luckily though, goodness has a way of circling back around again โ sometimes when one least expects it.
Meet a lunch lady named Machelle. You see, she knows what itโs like to go through a very tough experience.
This particular storyโs somewhat of a tearjerker. One day, a house fire robbed Machelle of most of her possessions.
She lost everything, including her prized quilts.
Thatโs right, Machelleโs a huge quilter! Her quilts are a thing of beauty. Well, I guess they were a thing of beauty, unfortunately.
Ever since the fire, sheโs put quilting on the backburner.
Losing everything can be almost impossible to recover from!
Although thereโs negativity in the world, there are miracle workers among us too.
Meet the Random Acts team. Theyโre a happy-go-lucky bunch.
Their jobs literally revolve around making peopleโs day.
Turns out, they just received a call about someone in need of a brighter day โ and this time, their eyes are set on Machelle!
Some friends had put in a call to make Machelleโs day. Maybe even her year!
Enter Random Acts.
The Random Acts crew heads to the cafeteria to tell Machelle the news.
Machelle just lost everything in a fireโฆ including her quilts. Little did she know that something special was about to happen.
One of the members approaches her and says:
โThey said that you had a rough time recently.โ
Machelle doesnโt know what to make of this kind strangerโs words.
Itโs like a dream come true when he says:
โWeโve covered everything. Youโre not doing lunch today. Youโre coming with us, and weโre taking you on a shopping trip.โ
Instead of lunch, the Random Acts crew was going to send her to Hamilton, Missouri to go quilt shopping.
Machelle was overcome with joy to the point of tears. But she was a little hesitant leaving her coworkers behind.
Well, good news.
Turns out, the entire staff was in on it!
Machelle couldnโt hold it in anymore. This was truly one remarkable day.
At this point, Machelle doesnโt hold back.
Those are tears of joy!
Machelle didnโt even need to move a muscle or worry about getting her things together.
Prior to the big surprise announcement, the Random Acts crew contacted friends and family to help gather some things.
Everythingโs taken care of.
With Machelle now in the know, the crew boarded the plane to Hamilton. Next stop: the quilt storeโฆ

Bad things do happen to good people. But so do good things!
Machelle had gone through an awful experience that flipped her world upside down. Fortunately, kind people swooped in to help flip it right-side up.
