“He’s the glue that holds our family together.”
There are plenty of men out there who secretly wish they could start over from scratch and sport a fresh new look, but they usually won’t admit to that fact out loud.
That would just be too girly of them! So, what’s a scruffy-looking guy supposed to do?
Lucky for them, Mike Weiss and Ron Madden have two very supportive women in their lives who are more than willing to speak up on their behalf!
When Mike’s wife Rebecca and Ron’s daughter Kate wrote letters to TODAY show hosts Hoda and Kathy Lee, they were hoping that these two supermen would get picked for an Ambush Makeover.
As luck would have it, their timing couldn’t have been more perfect!
It just so happened that hairstylist Louis Licari and TODAY show contributor Jill Martin were searching for a couple of very deserving fellas to give a Father’s Day surprise to!
As explained in her letter, when Rebecca struggled to overcome a serious medical condition, her husband Mike willingly played the roles of caretaker, father, and superhero extraordinaire!
Unfortunately, with so many things on his plate, he didn’t have any time left to take care of himself.
However, after a day of pampering with the Ambush Makeover team, Mike now has a new title to add to his growing list – studmuffin!
Hoda and Kathy Lee were the first ones to see Mike’s hot new look, and after the catcalls and whistling tapered off, they let his excited wife get a glimpse of her gorgeous beau.
“Take off your blindfolds. Look at Daddy!”
When the blindfolds came off, Rebecca and the couple’s two children stared in awe at the sharp-looking guy standing in front of them.
Although the signature curls were still there, the hairstyle was different enough for his son Franklin to gawk in confusion at his “new” dad!
Even Mike was happily surprised when he was finally allowed to turn around and look at the hottie staring back at him in the full-length mirror.
After Hoda cheekily exclaimed that he doesn’t look like he plays for the Grateful Dead anymore, Mike quipped:
“Wow. I haven’t seen that guy in a long time!”
Next up for a special Father’s Day makeover is 63-year-old Ron Madden. His daughter Kate said that he needs it because, as she puts it:
“He’s always putting himself before others and never asks for anything in return.”
However, it also turns out that she has a selfish motive behind her request, and is using the show to help her get rid of a hairy new addition on his life.
“It’s Father’s Day, and you actually want something taken away from him, and not given to him?”
Yep! Kate thinks her father is just too handsome for the bushy mustache that’s growing like a weed on his upper lip, and she wants it all gone! But, will Ron agree to let go of something he worked so hard to grow back?
Either way, it was a perfect opportunity for Hoda and Kathy Lee to have some fun with Kate’s not-so-secret wish!
Did her wish come true? Well as soon as Ron walked onto the stage, Kate’s eyes grew wide and she did a funny double take at her father’s makeover!
“That’s your basic movie star! You’re ready for your closeup.”
Not only did Ron look years younger, but something he was previously wearing had obviously gone missing – his glasses, of course!
As for the annoying mustache that Kate couldn’t stand to look at? Well, you’ll have to watch the video below to see if Ron’s hot new celebrity look included an upper lip wax.
