We live in an age of cameras. Literally everybody has one in their pockets, all just itching for an excuse to snap a perfect photo of their vacation, the food, friends, or themselves. And phone cameras are pretty decent too.
So it only follows that it takes confidence to pose for photos. Itโs not as easy for others, like plus sized people for example. But you can learn to look fabulous in pictures just by following these steps!
Donโt face camera head on

Facing the camera head on isnโt going to allow to show off your best features. The entire front of your body from head to toe is on full display and a camera has a funny way of making us look bigger than we really are.

Reduce body width
So take a foot and twist it at a 45 degree angle, with the other foot in front. Let that knee bend and hang out, back straight, chin up, suck your tummy in, and smile.
This is a popular pose on the red carpet as it has a beautiful slimming effect no matter what your body type is.

Find your best angle
Turning sideways a little and letting a leg stick out makes you look slimmer in photos. Practice both sides to see which works best for you. The whole point of a picture is to show off.
Once you find your comfortable pose, practice and utilize the pose for every shot youโre in.

Keep your arms back
Arms tend to look larger on camera especially with the hands on waist pose. Turn them away from the camera, and assume the same sideways pose. Pull those elbows back and there you go.
This works with your hips too. It takes some practice but it really does work!

Bring fingers closer together on your waist
Bring your hands across your waist and look how it instantly slims. What an easy and effective hack to create even more of an hourglass figure!

Avoid a lower angle
Taking photos from a lower angle isnโt going to flatter anyone. By getting the shot from above it opens the eyes and slims down the neck and cheeks.

Elongate chin and then drop it down
To defeat the double chin, elongate that chin then drop it down. Itโll feel weird and awkward at first but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.
That sharpens and lengthens your jawline in pictures. No surgery required.

Sit on a cushion
Hereโs a cool hack useful in group shots. Sit on the edge with a cushion under you. Just make sure the cushion wonโt appear in the shot.
Elongate one leg by sticking one out a bit. Donโt sag or slouch in the chair though.

Cross your ankles
A simple trick to elongate your body to make you appear taller is to just cross your ankels.
See which side feels more comfortable crossing over the other but this helps elongate your shape and even those legs.

Sit taller
Sitting back or sinking into a soft chair just isnโt as flattering.
Sit up with your back straight, keep that chin up a little and follow the posing tips here to look taller while seated.

Watch camera level
Keep your eye on the cameraโs level. Youโll have to adjust if you have to, but good photographers will know how to angle their shots.
Just be sure to maintain a good posture and to follow all you have learned here!
