Music and dancing are two things that can lift your spirits. You could be having a bad day and one upbeat song could help put a little pep back in your step.
One song that’s undeniably mood-boosting is the 80s classic “Footloose.” Not only is it catchy, but it’s hard to resist dancing to, regardless of how many times you’ve heard it before.
With how crowd-pleasing “Footloose” is, it’s really not surprising that dance groups all over have incorporated the song into their performances. However, not all of them have a cool cowboy twist like the one below!
Lizard’s Angels is a dance group in Spain and on one particular day, they joined a competition and took the stage with a laid-back but awesome performance.
The show took place at El Barn d’en Greg (which translates to Greg’s Barn).
It is an establishment in Rubí, Catalonia that makes both their regulars and newcomers feel like they are in the United States.
According to their official website:
“El Barn d’en Greg (Greg’s Barn in Catalan, the local language) will transport you to the very heart of America. where you can enjoy a special kind of cooking. Far from chains of processed fast foods, the Barn offers our own family recipes, made with fresh local produce, even from our own organic vegetable garden.”
The group decided to kick up their heels to a well-known rendition of “Footloose.”
A video of the Lizard’s Angels’ performance was uploaded to YouTube where it went viral.
Their group, which is consisted of 4 lovely women and 1 gentleman, line danced to the hit. You can already tell that the people know what they’re capable of because they began cheering in the first few beats of the song.
The event was actually the seventh year that the El Barn d’en Greg’s held their Country Line Dance Competition.
They were lucky enough to have Lizard’s Angles as one of the dance groups to join their annual competition. The group was absolutely worthy of being on the list and soon, you’ll see why.
Get your horses ready for this one-of-a-kind cowboy ride!
All the members of the Lizard’s Angles were in their western attire; cowboy hats, blue jeans, wide belts, and big buckles.
Their outfits alone will take your mind to some desert in the wild-wild West, just like in the movies.
Seconds after the first few beats of the music, they immediately hopped to their “Holy Moly” routine. They jiggled to Blake Shelton’s version of this mid-80s classic by Kenny Loggins. Their lively performance set fire to the stage right away with the opening parts of their routine.
If you can’t help tapping your own toes, we don’t blame you.
All five of them busted out their moves with perfect timing! They were simply one with the energetic music. They stayed synchronized and no one was left behind.
Their upbeat and fast-paced routine was well-taught and created by Choreographer David Villellas.
All the transitions, twists, turns, swivels, and crisscrosses, were on point. And look at that trademark cowboy stance- that thumb inside the pockets, right?
They’re doing all that while smoothly bouncing to the music. They’re so relaxed and smooth, it almost looked like they’re gliding on ice.
The quality of their performance only shows that they had countless practice sessions just to perfect the entire routine.
Even though it wasn’t the world’s largest stage, it caught the eye of people across the internet.
In fact, the video of their performance has already gained more than 5 million views since it got uploaded several years ago.
This is one “Footloose” line dance you don’t want to miss. You can watch the Lizard’s Angels nail their performance in the video below!
