If you’ve ever visited a busy pedestrianized area, you’ve probably come across a busker or two.
Buskers can be pretty traditional, singing pop songs and playing instruments we’ve all seen before. But sometimes, they can step out of the box – and it’s the creativity of certain buskers that gets them noticed.
The great thing about busking is that you don’t have to be rich or famous to do it. You just have to have some talent.
Take one busker, for instance, who put on an incredible drumming performance… using plastic containers.
Who says you need to have a thousand-dollar drumkit when you can sound just as impressive using everyday objects?
This guy is clearly a talented musician. He’s got a whole setup behind him, including a mic and a guitar, but for now, he’s chosen the unconventional.
Have you ever seen a drummer’s arms move so fast that they’re almost blurry? That’s what’s going on here.
Most of us can drum out a beat, but certainly not at that speed. Drumming requires equal parts talent and endurance. A newbie to the hobby would probably end up getting burnt out after less than a minute.
Not this guy, though – his arms move like they’re independent from his body, and the beat he creates is lively upbeat, and so dance-worthy.
Busking can be a bit awkward sometimes, especially if people simply hurry by, not even acknowledging the talented performance.
But in this case, a crowd has gathered around the man, some watching, some recording him on their phones.
Every now and then, someone would step forward to drop some cash into the man’s busking bucket. When he took a break from performing, several kids came forward to add their change.
One tiny girl in a white t-shirt seemed a little uncertain about walking into the middle of the circle – until her dad urged her forward and she set off at a run.
She dropped her money into the bucket with that proud little kid look on her face.
She turned to run back to her dad – but then she stopped and turned around, almost as if a thought occurred to her.
It was as if she had suddenly made the connection between that big bucket of money and all the cool stuff that she knew money could buy. Ice cream, teddies, trips to the toy store…
She had to have that bucket.
She slowly, casually lifted the handle to the bucket… until her dad, realizing what was happening, raced over and grabbed her, carrying her back into the crowd. Bless!
Break time over, the drummer got right back to it, and several kids started to dance – including the tiny girl in the white t-shirt.
The camera zoomed in on her as she jumped, wiggled and stamped her feet, living her best life.
A bit of humorous editing saw Billy Bland’s “Let The Little Girl Dance” play in the background – a fitting song for the occasion.
If the world was a carefree, easy place, and no one judged one another, all the adults would be up and dancing, too.
It’s a shame, really, as dancing has been proven to be more than just a bit of fun.
Dancing can improve aerobic fitness and mental functioning, and even reduce the risk of heart attacks, as it improves the condition of your circulatory system.
