They were asked to perform Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in front of their aunts and uncles during a family get-together. But one of the little kids had a different idea and wanted to perform a different kind of star, music that symbolized the Death Star on Star Wars.
It started with a simple performance of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
Six children from the very big Gibson family took to the stage to perform for their family. It was quite an impromptu performance but the kids wanted to do it. Or actually, they wanted to step in front of the mic and do their own thing.
There were two boys who stood out from this bunch of six siblings and cousins and they hogged the microphone. In fact, they wanted to use the mic the entire time that, at one point, one of the boys was given his own microphone by his uncle.
And the other boy?
Well, the other boy took to the mic and started humming the Imperial March from Star Wars. It even got to the point when he pushed his sister beside him away from the mic as if to say, “I got this, okay? You just stay there.”
This memorable performance happened last May 2018 but Erin Gibson, one of the aunts of the kids, reposted it on her Twitter account last May 26, 2019 and said, “Sometimes when I need to laugh, I think about the time my cousin’s son took over a group rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to sing the Imperial March.” And she reposted it last May because
she “felt like this was an extra negative week and maybe a few people would get a laugh out of it.”
Even Mark Hamill saw it!
But she certainly wasn’t expecting that it would suddenly go viral and have more than 300k views, 142k retweets, and 636k likes and counting since she tweeted a week ago, especially when her initial post in 2018 (which has been deleted by Gibson) only received about 30 likes. In fact, it’s even gotten the attention of Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films. He said, “The Dark Side is strong in him #AnotherRoyaltyForJohnWilliams”.
Her relative, Laura Gibson, also posted the full version of the video on YouTube and that’s when we were treated to the lead up to his performance. And remember when the little boy pushed his sister away during his “performance”? Well, when he finished, it was her turn and she pushed him away to get to the microphone and perform “Let It Go” from the movie, Frozen.
Everyone in the hall was just laughing and cheering for the kids. The adults let the kids do their own thing and just encouraged them to keep singing and performing. Do you know what the great part about the performance was though?
Usually, when kids go up on stage and the audience starts laughing, they’d feel embarrassed and start to cry.
Not these kids though. They saw it as encouragement and just keep singing and entertaining their family. Can we be part of your family and come to your next party?
Watch the video to feel the force!
