Kids Talk About God is a website where children can find online content and learn about God.
The website features videos where kids dish on a variety of subjects that revolve around the Christian creator.
And sometimes the results are absolutely hilarious. One of their funnier videos dates back to 2008 when they interviewed the most adorable little Southern boy.
The video was so funny that it’s been viewed more than 3.5 million times!
In the video, the child is asked: “Why did God create grandmothers?”
He answers with the true wisdom of a child admitting that he doesn’t know everything but shares what he does know.
“Well, God made grandmothers to love and care about you,” he explains. ” That’s all I know.”
He then goes on to tell his interviewers a little bit about his centenarian grandmother.
“She’s 100-years-old. I can’t believe that! And she’s name is ‘MayMa’ and she’s the king of all of them!” he exclaims.
He also conveys his understanding of how generations work.
“If she wouldn’t be on this earth, I wouldn’t be on this earth,” he smartly explains.
According to Kristen Hawkes and James O’Connel’s “Grandmother Hypothesis”, the importance grandmothers have on society goes well beyond the fact that they’re the start of their lineage.
“And grandmothers’ style of upbringing, with its emphasis on social dependence, gave rise to ‘a whole array of social capacities that are then the foundation for the evolution of other distinctly human traits, including pair bonding, bigger brains, learning new skills and our tendency for cooperation.’ Grandmothers, Hawkes says, are what make us human,” an article in the Atlantic explains.
And there are a lot of reasons grandmothers are so beloved by their grandchildren.
We all know grandmothers as the ones in the family who spoil the children with toys, food, and a lot of love.
And there’s a very specific reason for that.
“But moving to the next generation, grandmothers (or grandparents in general) typically aren’t called upon to deal with their grandkids at their most challenging worst. Nor are they required to function as disciplinarians, so they can be more lenient,” Psychology Today writes.
“Having completed the arduous, worrisome, and super-responsible job of childrearing, they’re in a far better position to simply sit back and enjoy all the things that children say and do that make them so lovable: their refreshing innocence, creative playfulness, endless sense of wonder and curiosity, surprisingly novel (and even charming) ways of expressing themselves, and so on.”
