When you are a kid, there are a lot of things in your life that are constantly changing. You are losing and growing teeth, getting taller and stronger, and learning more about the world around you. Through all this change one thing remains absolutely certain: birthdays are a BIG DEAL. Every kid dreams of having the perfect birthday. You’ll never guess how this mom gave her daughter just that.
Lily is a little girl with a lot of spunk. She loves Disney movies, playing dress up, and spending time with her mom. The two document their time together, and she and her sister, Chloe, share their photos on Instagram. Recently, Lily turned 6 years old. Her mom, Katie, knew she had to make her daughter’s birthday special. When it comes to surprises, this mother does not disappoint.
Katie put together a special kind of surprise for Lily’s birthday: a backpack full of clues. Each item in the backpack was more than just a gift to Lily – it was a clue about what they were doing to celebrate her big day! One week before Lily’s official birthday, Katie decided to unveil the big surprise.
She asked Lily if she wanted to open one of her birthday presents early. Of course she said yes! Do you know any girls – or anyone for that matter – who could possibly say no?! Lily sat down on the couch and waited for her gift.
Suddenly, a pink princess backpack appeared. Katie instructed her daughter to open the backpack, so she unzipped it and began to pull out all kinds of cool stuff.
First was a pair of movies. “How’d you know I wanted this?! How?! How?!” Lily exclaimed. Her excitement was evident.
As Lily pulled out more and more gifts, it became obvious that the backpack was a clue for something even better. Snacks, pajamas, and a new shirt hinted that an adventure was just around the corner.
As Lily removed the last of the gifts from the backpack, her mother hinted that there was more. “Where do you think we should take all this stuff?” Katie asked her daughter. “If you could go anywhere, where would you want to go?”
Lily’s arms immediately shot up and a smile erupted on her face. “Disneyland!” She screamed.
When asked “Why don’t we go?” Lily responded, “Okay, let’s go.” She was all smiles, but she did not get up from the couch. It was clear that she didn’t believe her mother.
Katie pressed on further. “Now. Today.” Lily suddenly gasped. “I’m being serious . . . We’re going.”
At this, the little girl began to cry tears of joy. She could not contain her excitement. Lily ran up to her mom and hugged her by the legs. This was the best birthday surprise the young girl could have asked for.
Katie made her daughter’s day in the most incredible way. It is heartwarming to see a mother so dedicated to bonding with her daughter.
