Leggings seems simple enough. Put them on and since they’re usually in a neutral color, wear any top and pair with any shoe you have, and off you go. But there’s actually a way to really pull off the leggings look.
For women over 50, it’s a little different. Age plays a factor, so here are the proper ways to rock leggings past the big five and zero.
Start with a basic silhouette
The basic silhouette is slimming, since the base layer is all black. Her top covers her rear but it’s not so obvious since it’s the same color. A nice stretchy belt cinches her waist and breaks up the monotony of the black layer.

Add animal print jacket
Walk on the wild side and show people how fierce you are with this leopard coat. It’s an easy, put it on and strut type of look.
One which remains trendy since it’s a classic finish.
Add a vest
If animal prints aren’t your thing, go for a long vest like this one. Pick your favorite color and let it fall down naturally to give a longer, slimmer look.
This look works for all the other months of the year too.
Add a lightweight duster
A lightweight, light colored duster looks so good for the summer. Swap that black top for a sleeveless one if it’s warmer where you live, but overall, it’s a stylish look that grabs attention.
Add a cardigan
This camel colored cardigan, or any colored cardigan in general, looks really good with the leggings. It’s another classic ensemble that doesn’t have to break the bank or require you to exert too much effort.
Jeggings with classic white shirt and print shoes
Now switch from a black top to a classic white shirt. Try on a pair of jeggings with print shoes and see just how warm and colorful you look.
Tuck in the sides but keep the front and back loose and flowy to cover up a bit.
Add a short dress with jacket
You can wear those too-short dresses over your leggings. Spice it up a bit with a nice denim jacket and a hat. Go for high heeled boots to dress it up even more and look like you own the night.
Add a poncho
Try different colored jeggings and see which looks nice on you. Grab a poncho and put it on for an outdoorsy, western vibe that just looks so country and comfortable.
Casual everyday look
You don’t necessarily need to go to the gym or the like with this look. Hit up the mall or the park with a nice pair of stretchy pants and athletic shoes paired with a simple white top and jacket.
You can run too if needed.
With a long boot
Here’s one for the ladies who adore those high boots. They’re almost like leggings but are actually capris, so just tuck them into the boot. You get the look minus the bulk of pants inside them.
A nice button down shirt and a denim jacket rounds off this gorgeous look.
Leather boots with navy vest
Trendy, practical, and cute. The boots match the vest and the bag perfectly, without any individual piece taking away attention from the others.
Easy way to glam up with those ordinary leggings.
White and black for a chic look
You can never go wrong with classic black and white. This is just very sophisticated overall, with the white layer slightly subdued with a belt and black accents.
Those sunglasses do a great job of adding some style up top.
Add a utiltiy jacket
Time for sneakers. Utility jackets are in, trendy, and are perfect to pair with white leggings for day trips and quick lazy days out for maybe some shopping or meet ups with friends.
Chic for a rainy day
Get warm and cozy up on rainy days with this wine colored rain jacket that has zip up jackets and a hood to keep your hair dry. Those boots and a clear umbrella will have you crossing and clearing those puddles with ease.
Add a long top that ties in the front
A long lightweight top allows you to tie it from the front. The back is equally as long to cover your behind. It looks simple but it does a lot to keep you classy without sacrificing comfort and style.
Add a blazer with long boots
Another very classy combo with leggings. Long boots and a light blue blazer finished with classic aviator glasses will have other strangers admiring you from head to toe.
Add a light komono
That plain black top and black leggings will work well with this kimono. Simply drape it over yourself and tie it as you see here or your own way.
It’s another look that works well wherever you go whether alone or with friends.
Denim dress with ankle boot
The dress alone may be too short but when paired with leggings and ankle boots, it just looks amazing since the blue pops out a bit more thanks to the black underneath.
It’s a fun and youthful vibe you can rock.
