James Baily of Orlando Florida was surprised when the Kiss Cam landed on him at an Orlando Magic game.
He thought was just going to get a day to enjoy a basketball game by watching his favorite players.
He definitely didn’t know the spotlight would be on him OR that it would result in an elaborate ruse to surprise him with some really big information.
The evening started with Baily and his wife Taylor Wheaton Baily getting caught on Kiss Cam.
Little did he know that his wife planned the whole thing.
“I saw the ‘Kiss Cam,’ I saw the camera up on me. I figured alright, we’re on the Kiss Cam, that’s pretty cool, we’ve always wanted to do something like that,” Baily told Fox 35 Orlando.
But the surprise didn’t end there. As the crowd cheered around them, another message appeared on the screen.
It said: “Congrats James! You are going to be a dad!”
Baily’s jaw dropped in an “O” of astonishment. He then held the sides of his head as if trying to contain the huge amount of information that just dropped into his brain.
He covers his mouth again in shock before raising his arms in triumph.
“I think he was very surprised as everyone saw on his facial expressions,” Taylor Wheaton Baily told WESH 2.
Baily confirmed his total astonishment.
“When I looked up and saw the writing at the bottom, that’s just when my jaw dropped and it was just such a whirlwind of emotions at that point,” he said.
Wheaton Baily said she had learned that she was just a few days ago and wanted to find a unique way to drop the news.
“My husband has always dreamed of me telling him in a really cool way. So I thought it would be neat to get on the Kiss Cam,” Wheaton Baily said.
So, Wheaton Baily brought her parents along for the surprise. It didn’t take long before the couple’s Kiss Cam debut before the messages started pouring in.
“There were some of my friends local in town that were like, ‘Are you pregnant?’ And I was like ‘Oh are you at the game?’ And they were like ‘No, you’re on Sports Center right now,'” Wheaton Baily said.
Bailey told new outlets on Nov. 25 that he hadn’t even eaten turkey yet but so, far, it had been the best Thanksgiving ever.
“Big W” Orlando Magic tweeted with a video of the Kiss Cam incident.
The couple ended up being even more surprised when they found out that their video went viral being published in international news outlets.
According to Orlando Style Magazine, the husband and wife are chiropractors who own and run Verte Chiropractic in downtown Baldwin Park.
Wheaton Bailey actually played basketball as a shooting guard during her time at East Carolina.
The couple has been married since 2018 and they currently work with athletes.
