If you’re married, there are likely 1001 reasons why you fell in love with that person in the first place. For Tara Carter from Arkansas, she was reminded of why she loved her husband Chris so much, because of what he did for an elderly neighbor.
After Tara shared a photo of her husband’s act of kindness on social media, it went viral, with people applauding him in response. Her story begins when they were simply driving home one day.
We all know what it’s like to have a busy day. Between work, kids, house, errands, and everything in between – it can be easy to think that there’s no extra time for anything else. However, sometimes even just a small gesture can make the world of difference.
Tara and her family were in their Jeep driving towards their house with food in the vehicle. But suddenly, Chris caught everyone off guard by turning around.
The mom explained in her Facebook post that she had no clue what her husband was up to, or what he had seen out of his window.
Chris then had a request for Tara. Instead of going along with their regular plans, he said:
“…take the food home and come back and get me.”
Tara still didn’t understand why, but trusted her husband and agreed to return to pick him up. However, once they stopped their vehicle in front of an elderly gentleman it all became clear that he wanted to lend a helping hand.
As it turns out, Chris had seen the senior mowing his lawn. Now, he could have just driven by and never thought twice about it. But that’s not the type of person Chris is.
Instead, he chose to get out of his Jeep and take the push mower from the man so he could cut the grass for him. Tara snapped a photo of her husband in action, which is a sight sweet enough to melt anyone’s heart into a puddle.
When Tara shared Chris’ act on Facebook, she began her post saying, “This is one of the many reasons I love my husband.”
A person that takes the time to perform good deeds is beyond inspirational, and it’s something we should all strive to do ourselves. Tara too appreciates her husband’s beautiful spirit. She wrote:
“I pray that my son learns from this and randomly helps people do things like his father does.”
It’s no surprise that Tara’s post spread like wildfire and as of now, it’s been shared more than 100,000 times.
Internet users have praised Chris for taking the time to help mow the elderly man’s lawn. Some have even shared their own uplifting stories.
One woman wrote:
“… I noticed an elderly Lady trying to take flattened boxes to her car. The wind caught one and started to lift it up* Then I saw a young Man step forward and take her Cart to the Car… It was My Son. <3”
Another commenter said:
“My mom used 2 stop the car and make us get out as kids if she ever saw anybody needing help lol. I remember she took my last $10 to give 2 a homeless man when I was 12… I’m very grateful 2 have been raised like that and proud 2 say we’re teaching my kids the same.”
