One of our favorite parts of The Voice Kids is when they bring together several of the young talents to perform alongside one another during the battle rounds. Hearing the singers alternating back and forth on the verses of a song helps both the judges and us as fans to compare their various voices and different styles of singing.
Every once and a while too, something extremely cool happens — you get a group of kids whose voices just go unbelievably well together.
That is exactly what happened on The Voice Kids Germany when performers Simon, Helena, and Patrizia joined up to sing “Hallelujah” together.
Written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen, “Hallelujah” has got to be one of the most covered songs of all time. However, it’s safe to say that Simon, Helena, and Patrizia’s version is among one of the best. Being long-time fans of the show and having witnessed hundreds of acts over the years, it takes a lot to wow us. Yet wowed we were.
As soon as Simon started singing, we immediately felt the chills shooting down our spine.
Simon’s voice is simply amazing and his pitch is spot on too.
Then the two girls joined in and it was basically the same thing all over again. We once again felt the goosebumps forming, and we have to say, it was one of the most impressive trios we’ve ever seen in the battle rounds.
The amount of control they all have over their young voices is nothing short of incredible.
Then, when you consider the fact that the song is actually in a completely foreign language for them, it makes their performance even that much more impressive.
When the three kids joined together to sing the chorus, we had to do a double-take to make sure that, yes, indeed, it was actually a live performance we were listening to.
As perfect as their pitch is and smooth as their voices sound, it could have easily been a studio recording run through the Auto-Tune program (a popular voice pitch-correcting software). Yet, their performance was in fact, all-natural — just a couple microphones, speakers, and three unbelievable young talents.
All three of them alternated who got to sing on the verses, allowing each one of them their time to shine and show off their talent.
It must have been so hard for the judges to decide who won.
Several times throughout the performance, the camera panned over to show Henning Wehland and Lena Meyer-Landrut’s smiling faces.
By the end of the battle, you could even see tears forming in the judges’ eyes.
While the three kids began their performance seated in chairs, ultimately, everyone ended up out of their seats, the audience included.
To no one’s surprise, the kids received a standing ovation, and we imagine it must have made their parents and family so proud. We know we were.
If you’ve never seen the video of their incredible performance before, you simply have to check it out for yourself.
