Recently, the 2017 CMT Music Awards dedicated to country music were held at the Music City Center in Nashville Tennesse, but it was mostly Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood that absolutely stole the show.
The two country superstars performed a special, more acoustic version of their top hit “The Fighter.” Their new rendition of the song starts rather slow, but in the middle of the song, the beat speeds up a little beat and the song even shifts into a more upbeat sounding tune.
Now we’ll admit, their original version of “The Fighter” already sounded great, but it’s this version at the CMT Music Awards that will be talked about for a long time. The acoustic version allows you to soak in both of their extremely talented voices as good as possible, and the unique direction of the song in the second half is something worth hearing.
Keith started the song with his trusted guitar, and Carrie wasn’t anywhere to be seen for a little while. A bright white light quickly shined on her when the duet starts, and that’s when the musical performance truly becomes a visual and audible spectacle. This rendition is simple, yet stylish and incredibly beautiful.
Keith Urban’s wife Nicole Kidman was even seen in audience slowly jamming to the tunes of “The Fighter.”
The popular song debuted on Keith’s Ripcord album, and although the album itself was a success, it was the song “The Fighter” that had everyone’s attention.
The song was later released as a single and the country song with techno and pop influences even hit the coveted number one hit spot. The song debuted during the Grammy Awards with a live performance of the two, but this performance at the CMT Music Awards certainly is one to remember.
With an amazing performance such as this one, it’s not hard to forget that there were actually awards to be handed out. These two incredible vocalists tore the house down, and they also won a ton of impressive awards later in the night.
Keith has been given no less than four awards, including the top award of ‘video of the year’ and ‘male video of the year’, ‘social superstar’ and ‘collaborative video of the year,’ together with Carrie Underwood. Carrie herself also won another award that night, for ‘female video of the year’.
With a whopping 17 awards, Carrie is the most awarded performer in the history of the award show.
