If youโve ever been to a sports event, then youโre probably familiar with the Jumbotron. While some fans love to be caught on the gigantic screen for all to see โ it gives the rest of us the sweats.
Jeremy Fry was watching a Boston Celtics game when he became the target of the Jumbotronโs cameraman. But itโs how he reacted that quickly went viral.
The young man was just minding his own business enjoying the game.
When youโre sitting in stadium seats with thousands of others, itโs easy to think that no oneโs paying attention to what youโre doing. Oh, but thatโs right โ thereโs that whole pesky Jumbotron thingโฆ
The camera zooms in on Jeremy whoโs bopping along to the music. Suddenly, the woman next to him (likely his mom) notices theyโre on the big screen. She taps him to get his attention.
But what would he do with his special moment?
Some fans cheer when they realize theyโre on the Jumbotron. Others kiss, and some shy away. For Jeremy, he decided to dance!
First, his finger-snapping turned into full-on fist pumps. Then he leaped from his chair and shimmied across the aisle. It was only the beginning though.
The epic Bon Jovi song, โLivinโ on a Prayerโ was playing in the background. Apparently, Jeremy knows every word to the 80โs classic โ so decided to give everyone a little show.
While mouthing the lyrics, he jumped around his section in true rockstar fashion. He even pulled out his own invisible guitar for the performance.
Not too many other people noticed Jeremy at first because they were too busy watching themselves on the mega screen. However, the cameraman sure did! As Jeremy danced his way down the steps it became obvious he was the focus.
Jeremy then starts interacting with the other fans during the song. He grabs onto one manโs shoulder, only to give the next guy a great big bear hug. He was like the Celticsโ second mascot!
The crowd went crazy for Jeremyโs over-the-top dancing. In fact, he probably would have made Jon Bon Jovi himself proud. He lip-synced the song like nobodyโs business.
Jeremy had just gotten started.
After reaching the bottom of the steps โ well, it was time to go back up! He used the railing as a prop to dance his way back towards his seat. For that short time, he had become the star.
Although most wouldnโt pick Jeremy out of a crowd and assume heโd be the showman type โ it goes to prove that you shouldnโt judge a book by its cover. The captured footage actually launched Jeremy into becoming an internet sensation.
Bon Jovi had another reason to love the young man.
Jeremy Fryโs performance was such a big hit that it helped put โLivinโ on a Prayerโ back on the charts. According to Billboard Biz, it reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 2013. Currently, the YouTube video alone has nearly 17 million views.
The majority of us would be too scared to do what Jeremy did at the Celtics game. But you gotta admire him for it โ he took โdancing like no oneโs watchingโ to a whole new level! I think I found my new hero.
