When the reality TV star made a statement about supporting the Women’s March earlier in 2017, he saw an overwhelming amount of negative messages on his Facebook page. Scott also had plenty of loving, supportive words, but it was the hateful ones that caused him to film and post a video for all of his Facebook followers.

“Think back to when you were a child, and your parents taught you that ‘If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’ I have no idea what happened to that – because I read all of your posts…. We also have some people who are just cruel and angry, and no matter what, they just have something negative to say….When your parents were teaching you that life lesson, they were not suggesting that you always have to conform. There’s a big difference between having an opinion and always trying to pick a fight.”

Scott lets the world know that most of his fans are incredible and uplifting; however, it’s the negative cyberbullies that have a lot to learn in life. Scott wants to stress that the adage of ‘If you don’t have something nice to say…” doesn’t mean that you have to conform; you just need to learn to respectfully disagree.

Scott wants to make sure that his social media page is a place to inspire one another and foster positivity.

The Property Brothers star also wants those mean and negative people to “take a good look in the mirror and find your source of happiness.”

“When you choose to look at the world from a place of hostility, well, it’s unlikely that you’re ever going to see even the smallest amount of good, and that’s a tragedy,” Scott says in his heartfelt video.

“I just believe that any achievement for equality here in America is a victory for human rights around the world. Period.”

Jonathan Scott’s powerful message below has been viewed over 1.4 million times. It’s one that should be viewed by millions more.
