Parents are often wary of their children’s decisions, especially the big ones.
It’s not really controlling them, but just a parent’s natural worry if their decision is the best for them.
Despite that, they let their children be, and should it turn out as a wrong decision, they would still support them as they face the consequences.
One of those big decisions is getting married.
Marriage isn’t easy – our parents know that for sure and don’t want us to hurry to it and go unprepared.
People usually raise their eyebrows when a young couple decides to settle down and question their parents on why they agreed.
Jon Bon Jovi was asked about this recently when his son announced his engagement at the young age of 20.
Jacob “Jake” Bongiovi recently announced his engagement to Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who is only 19.
The couple took to social media their wonderful news as they each posted photos when Jake popped the question, and Millie said ‘yes.’
In a radio interview, Jon Bon Jovi let slip his true feelings about this engagement.
The award-winning rockstar guested on the Sirius XM show Radio Andy, where the host, Andy Cohen, couldn’t stop himself but ask Bon Jovi about his son’s engagement.
He even related it to the musician’s own marriage with his wife, Dorothea Bongiovi.
The couple were high school sweethearts, and although they waited nine years to get married, it was still comparable to the young love that Jake and Millie have.
Bon Jovi’s answer wasn’t surprising because he knew from experience that love doesn’t come with age.
It turned out that he loved Millie Bobby Brown and her family.
“I don’t know if age matters. If you find the right partner and you grow together, I think that would be my advice really: Growing together is wise,” he told the radio host.
He added, “I think that all of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with, and we like them all. Millie is wonderful; her whole family is great.”
He also said the same thing in a recent interview with People about the secret to their lifelong marriage – growing together.
The couple made their announcement on separate Instagram posts.
Millie Bobby Brown posted a black and white photo of her and Jake showing off the engagement ring and quoting lyrics from Taylor Swift’s “Lover.”
More than 13 million people reacted to this post, and while some fans reacted to how young the couple is to get married, most showed support and admiration for the two.
On the other hand, Jake’s Instagram post was short and simple.
He posted a photo of both wearing white, his back facing the camera while Millie was facing sideways, wrapped in Jake’s arm.
The following photo was a sweet moment for the two, who looked like they had taken a break from swimming.
He captioned it “forever,” and we expect they’ll stay together that long.
