Dedicating time to have fun and engage in entertainment after a long day of work is actually the best way to fight stress.
For those who don’t know, Jimmy Fallon is an American comedian and late-night television host with many talents. The 45-year-old man is also known for his work in television as a beloved cast member on Saturday Night Live.
He was also the host of the late-night talk show, “The Tonight Show.” Over the years, he show has featured artists from many different eras and areas including Meghan Trainor, RuPaul, Little Big Town and Jennifer Lopez.
In 2017, Fallon and pop star Miley Cyrus, got together for a surprise performance of Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene.”
It all took place on a New York City subway platform.
Cyrus was in control of the crowd during the in-house segments as well, easily commanding the audience alongside Fallon. Before they went remote, she also engaged in a number of shorter musical segments and served the audience some awesome songs.
Cyrus wore a hat and a black shiny wig, along with a black shade.
Fallon was similarly disguised in a jacket and while wearing a wig, so nobody could tell who he was at first glance. Behind the stage was a guitarist and a drummer using a bucket to dish out the beat, all to the surprise and amusement of the audience. Fallon played the tambourine while Cyrus belted out a flawless, soulful cover of “Jolene” that made everybody stop and stare.
As their performance showed, there’s no limitations when it comes to raw talent—even when a song is being played on a bucket drum!
People who recognized the duo were just as amazed as those who didn’t!
Above all, everyone was loving the outstanding performance. Just before the song came to an end, Fallon took off his wig and hat which made the audience erupt with applause! During the performance, the audience also sang along with the duo, with a big percent of them recording the scene on their phones as well.
After “Jolene,” the duo went on to sing a medley of other hits as well—and the crowd was eating it up.
The whole time, the duo perform song after song—gradually moving into some of Cyrus’s own biggest hits.
When they both start singing “Party in the USA,” the energy in the crowd goes through the roof! Everyone is singing along to the lyrics and Fallon holds the mic out for passersby to sing into. Although Fallon has done a few of these surprise subway performances before, this is definitely one of the better ones he’s pulled off.
After all, not everyone knows that Cyrus has a pretty beautiful country voice outside of her pop music hits!
When it was all over, the two of them took a bow and the crowd gave them a huge final round of applause.
Since this clip was posted on YouTube, it has earned more than 27 million views and 253,000 likes! Ever since Fallon has taken over The Tonight Show, he’s given it much more of a fun, musical direction. Judging from clips like this one, all of America was more than ready for a change in the format. If you’re ever in New York and you see some strange performers on the subway, make sure it’s not Jimmy Fallon!
