Celebrity Jennifer Aniston has recently revealed on Instagram that sheโs lost one of the closest people to her.
Her father, John Anthony Aniston, passed away on November 11, 2022 at the age of 89.
Like Jennifer, John Aniston is a well-known television actor.
Jennifer posted a sweet message to her dad on her Instagram, together with old photos of them together.
One is her dad carrying her as a baby. The other photo shows her as a child sitting on the steps with her father.
While Jennifer Aniston is a global superstar thanks to the hit sitcom โFriends,โ her dad is also a well-known actor and celebrity in his own right.
John Aniston was born in Greece and migrated to the U.S. with his family when he was a toddler.
He grew up in Pennsylvania, where his family operated a restaurant.
He began acting in plays in high school and majored in theater in college. The Greek actor began acting in television in 1962.
John made his debut on the popular soap opera โDays of our Livesโ in 1970. His first role was playing Dr. Eric Richards.
Soon after, he joined other soap operas and television show. He also appeared on the first-ever cover of the magazine Soap Opera Digest.
In 1985, he returned to Days of our Lives to play Victor Kiriakis, the iconic role he would play for the next 37 years until his recent death.
Earlier this year, John won a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award to commemorate the many years he spent acting in soap operas, especially on โDays of our Lives.โ
Jenniferโs post announcing her fatherโs death has gotten over four million likes and comments from other celebrities.
Her heartfelt message shared that he was one of the most beautiful humans she ever knew.
John was also proud of his daughter. In an interview with the Greek Reporter, he was asked which of her works he liked best. He answered, โI liked them all. Friends, of course, went on for years, and she had some wonderful shows on Friendsโ.
While they were on good terms when he passed, John and Jennifer had a complicated relationship. He left her with her mother Nancy Dow as a child, and didnโt see her for a year after.
When Jennifer and John reconnected, she began seeing him on weekends, and they started their relationship anew.
She said in an interview with Rolling Stone in 1999, โAs best as he could, my dad explained and apologized, and itโs enough. Weโve made up.โ
Jennifer also showed that their relationship was good when they appeared in a The Ellen Show skit together a few years ago, poking fun at his soap opera background.
She also presented him with the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, showcasing their close relationship.
โItโs an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but itโs also a chance to recognize the lifelong achievements of a great and well-respected actor who also happens to be my dad,โ Jennifer said in her speech before he was presented with the award.
Despite their tumultuous relationship in the past, it is evident that father and daughter Jennifer and John truly loved and cared for each other. Just like millions around the world, we are sending our love to the Aniston family during this difficult time.
