Taking a trip to visit the animals at the zoo or aquarium can be some of the most magical and heartwarming trips. With the animals safe in their enclosures, we are allowed a closer view of them as opposed to seeing them in the wild. The same could be said as the animals get a closer look at us as well. These enclosures also allow for new connections and bonds between humans and animals to be made. Seeing which various ways we are similar and finding which ways we are different. With each new discovery, we reach new levels of understanding of ourselves and the animals as well. One of those ways we have discovered that we can connect and bond with various animal species is through the sounds of music.
At the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut, one visitor caught the eyes and ears of a curious beluga whale while he played the animals some beautiful jazz music.
This magical moment was thankfully captured on video for us to watch and appreciate as it just warms the heart.
As the musician plays the beluga nods and seemingly smiles at this rare occasion of live music. The beluga even follows along with the movements of the musician absolutely entranced by him. One user, AndyTheArtist2005, on youtube noticing something funny also going on in the back commenting,
The musician continues to play and this beluga whale is here to stay and enjoy the show as long as they possibly can.
The beluga continues to smile even wiggling and jiggling its body as the musician plays on. The beluga looks to be not only listening but understanding the jazzy tune and even feeling the vibration through the glass wall of the enclosure. Another youtube user, lara lara, mentioning,
You can see the happiness as it washes over the beluga feeling every note and watching every movement of the musician who is sharing his gift with the beluga.
As the musician finishes the beluga starts to grin and looks into the musician’s eyes so satisfied with the performance he just had the opportunity to witness.
As the man turns to the side we can see the smile on his face as well and even the beluga releases a bigger smile on his face. The two sharing a truly magical and special moment even though not a word was spoken and they are two completely different species. Another user, SoulReaver267, on youtube commenting what the beluga might’ve been thinking once the musician stopped,
Such a special moment shared at the Mystic Aquarium and a new discovery made of just how much beluga’s love to listen to jazz music! Or at least this curious friend whose day was just made by this musician who brought his instrument to the zoo. Such a fascinating thing to observe and appreciate as we can bond with the animals who inhabit Earth through music.
