Sometimes kids are even more impressive than the adults, as is the case with one young musical prodigy in Australia, Jagger Alexander-Erber.

He was only nine years old when he appeared on Australia’s Got Talent back in 2012 where he showed the world his area of expertise — drumming. While it’s not often someone gets called a prodigy for playing the drums, Jagger certainly fits the bill. He plays better than most adult professionals we know of, and if one thing is for sure, it’s that this kid is going to be a mega-rockstar one day.

The video of Jagger’s audition for the talent competition series received over 2,500,000 views on YouTube and for good reason.

It’s because he’s got some serious talent.

At the time of his performance, Jagger had already had experience playing in several bands, a feat that’s quite impressive for someone of his age.

Yet, what’s even more impressive is how he performs solo. In his audition, Jagger proved that you don’t need a full band of instruments to hold a crowd’s attention. In fact, it turns out, sometimes you only need one. For Jagger, that means a nice set of drums. Although, there were two guitarists in the background of his audition playing basic chords and riffs for added effect.

As soon as the 9-year-old stepped to the stage, in true rockstar fashion, the first thing he did was rip off his shirt.

“The other day I was playing pop, and today I’m playing my real style — rock,” Jagger told the judges.

The guitar riffs start and instantly Jagger begins showing off on the drums.

It’s pretty amazing to watch. Some people practice drums for their whole lives and still never reach the level of mastery that Jagger has already gotten to.

While the audition only lasts around thirty seconds, it’s enough time to realize that the kid is definitely something special. He certainly has a long career ahead of him.

After he finished the performance, he had some pretty hilarious banter with the judges too.

“I really like you, and I think you’re extremely talented, and I feel for your next door neighbors and your parents because I reckon…” judge Kyle Sandilands joked.

Jagger interrupted the judge before he could finish.

“I don’t even have next neighbors,” Jagger said. “They moved out because they hated us so much.”

Everyone in the audience instantly started cracking up laughing.

“I totally get you, because that is what happens over at my place as well,” Sandilands responded.

All in all, it really was a great audition, and his performance that day cemented his position in the heart of millions.

The final result was a unanimous yes from all three judges sending young Jagger on to the next round of the competition.

While Jagger didn’t end up winning that year’s edition of Australia’s Got Talent, he was the runner-up finishing in second place overall. For a kid who hadn’t even reached the age of ten yet at the time of his participation on the show, we’d say that is definitely a pretty respectable place to be in.
