Jadyn Rylee from Toronto, Canada, isn’t your average twelve-year-old.
The sweet blonde is a popular YouTube star, having amassed more than 38 million views on the Jadyn Rylee YouTube channel.
Although she mainly performs covers, more recently she’s been exploring originals— her work leading BBC to wonder whether she’d become the next online singer to attain the heights of mainstream fame.
According to Jadyn’s YouTube channel, she’s been singing since the age of two. “My parents tell me that I started to sing as soon as I learned how to talk,” she revealed in an interview with Canadian Beats.
“At the age of three, I learned the hit song by Miley Cyrus called ‘The Climb’. That was when my family first realized that this might something that one day I would be good at.”
For Jadyn, the journey into singing was difficult. Despite her passion, it was hard to find a vocal coach willing to accept a student under the age of eight— but Jadyn didn’t give up, ultimately finding a teacher who appreciated her natural skills. While Jadyn performs a myriad of different genres, last year, BBC described her as specializing in classic rock, “anything from Metallica to Dolly Parton,” they noted.
With such incredible vocal skills, it isn’t always easy for Jadyn to find a suitable performing partner— but she seems to have finally found one in her good friend Brayden Ryle.
As a singer, dancer, rapper, and piano player, Brayden has a myriad of performance skills himself. When he and Jadyn come together musically, something special occurs.
Last year, Jadyn uploaded an original song featuring Braydon Ryle called “Only You”.
“Also featured in ‘Beaches of Tofino’, this is Brayden’s second appearance but first vocal collaboration,” the video’s description explained.
“This song can be heard in many ways, but for Jadyn and Brayden it signified the immediate and strong friendship that they developed.”
As Jadyn sings the lyrics, her voice is clear and controlled, sounding much more mature than her mere 12 years of age.
For the entire verse, Brayden stays quiet, but when Jadyn starts the chorus, he immediately jumps in.
But he’s not singing— he’s doing something else.
Brayden’s special touch adds volumes to the song. People love the way the two youngsters interweave the two different styles. Indeed, in the video’s description, Jadyn’s parents note:
“They were flawless.”
“They seemed so in tune with each other and knew exactly what to do.”
Since being uploaded, “Only You” has been viewed more than 3.3 million times.
