People tend to judge Miley Cyrus pretty harshly. Sometimes it’s because she played Hannah Montana on Disney Channel, or because she twerked on Robin Thicke, or swung around naked on a gigantic wrecking ball… Or just her entire Bangerz and Dead Petz phases altogether.
But Miley has had some really amazing moments as well. More amazing moments than not.
Like that time she had Jesse Helt, a 22-year-old homeless man accept her VMA award for Video of the Year on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States (and the Happy Hippie Foundation, which she founded). Or how about that time she was an amazing judge on The Voice. Or her spine-tingling performance of “Tiny Dancer” with Elton John.
You get the idea. The list goes on.
When it comes down to it, if you look at Miley’s past, it’s clear she’s had some… interesting moments. However, she ultimately proves to be a true woman of substance. An elegant, lovable class act.
We also know that unfortunately for famous people in the spotlight, new things from their past tend to come out every day, even if they took place years ago.
A video of Miley from September 2011 recently surfaced and there’s no doubt it has everyone in tears.
The video shows the singer performing at her (ex?) best friend/backup dancer’s wedding (Jen Talarico and Ryan Novak) alongside accompanying pianist Mike Schmidt.
She played what is the most appropriate Miley Cyrus song for a wedding: “When I Look At You” from the 2010 Nicholas Sparks film The Last Song. Also known as the film where Miley met her current fiancé Liam Hemsworth (who potentially might be her current husband, although we don’t know for sure).
So yes, it’s a pretty fitting song for this romantic occasion.
If you were on the fence about Miley as a person, we can officially confirm that she is awesome, and obviously super talented as she nails those high notes.
Imagine having your best friend who is an award-winning artist soundtrack you and your partner’s first dance? It’s a dream come true for these two lovebirds!
What is even better than this clip though, is the internet’s reaction to it.
The intimacy between the couple, plus Miley’s casual yet stunning performance has everyone freaking out.
“One of the most beautiful songs,” “Miley doesn’t even need that mic… her voice is so POWERFUL and strong,” “I’d just be crying if Miley ever sang this in front of me,” “I want this at my wedding,” “when you don’t believe in marriage, but then you watch this video,” and “the INTIMACY,” are just a few of the thousands of comments the video has generated.
“No autotune, just pure talent,” another fan commented.
That’s not the only thing the internet is freaking out about though.
Everyone also seems to agree that the pianist, Mike Schmidt, is Adam Levine’s long-lost brother. Since he’s nailing those harmonies, we wouldn’t be surprised if he actually was! Hey Maroon 5, are you looking to add another member?
