If you were given the chance to swim in an infinity pool with a 360-degree view situated on top of a skyscraper in London, would you dare take it? Swimming atop 55 stories above ground in a pool with transparent walls and flooring may seem to be mind-boggling, but guess what? Someone is finally going to make it a reality! The Infinity London Tower could begin construction in 2020 and one of its main attraction will be the world’s first ever 360-degree rooftop infinity pool.
Compass Pools, a swimming pool manufacturer from the UK, designed this seemingly ambitious yet intriguing structure. Named as the “Infinity Tower London”, the building will be around 200 meters high made up of 55 levels. This skyscraper will have an incredible 600,000-liter infinity swimming pool at its peak, which means it is now possible to do lengths while getting an amazing view of the city!
If you want to know about where this structure is going to be built, then you would have to wait a little bit longer because no announcements have been made yet regarding its location. All we know for now is that it will be built somewhere in London and that we have to watch out for this unique building’s construction.
According to its designer, Alex Kemsley, the sides of the pool will not be made from glass but from cast acrylic. This material is chosen because of its ability to transmit light with a wavelength similar to water, making the pool look even clearer. With this design, you would still be able to see the capital clearly even when you are underwater.
Of course, the 360-degree view will not be complete if the floor was not clear, too! Onlookers from the lower levels of the building will be able to see the sky even with the pool on the rooftop. Likewise, swimmers from the infinity pool will have a magnificent―terrifying, if you are afraid of heights―view of the floors beneath the pool. Hmm, definitely something that belongs to an adventurer’s bucket list, right?
However, most people are concerned about one thing: how do people get in and out of the pool if the walls are free of stairs that might ruin the 360-degree view? Compass Pools has provided the answer to that as well. The entrance and exit to the pool will be via “a rotating spiral staircase based on the door of a submarine, rising from the pool floor.” Now, that is what you call extraordinary.
Another promising feature of this one-of-a-kind pool is the fact that it is designed to save energy because its heating will come from the heat emitted by the air conditioning system of the building. Plus, it will also have its own anemometer meant to keep track of wind speed and to ensure that the water is always at the right temperature.
Meanwhile, the floors beneath the pool will house a five-star hotel, flats, a spa and stalls for luxury items. The infinity pool is going to be available to the hotel guests and residents. Apparently, it won’t be open for the general public.
Don’t you just feel excited about this new attraction in London? Well, if you plan on going to the Infinity London Tower, you may need to wait for a little bit longer because its construction won’t kick-off until 2020.
This amazing skyscraper will certainly be another reason for people to visit London. The capital’s beautiful skyline and the feeling of being one with it through a seamless swimming experience is definitely an adventure that you won’t ever want to miss!
