Two young newlyweds made the internet collectively reach for a tissue after sharing a touching video of their first dance as husband and wife.

Twenty-eight-year-old Martine and James Kilminister, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, have been together for more than a decade and are the parents of two beautiful, young boys.

Roughly eight weeks ago, Martine was diagnosed with stage 4 spinal glioblastoma, a type of deadly cancer.

She told Daily Mail UK, “When I lost the feeling in my legs last month, we all thought it was a trapped nerve at first. I’d been battling with severe back pain for a few months but doctors just thought it was muscular spasms.”

“It wasn’t until I flew to Benidorm at the end of August that things took a turn for the worst. I ended up coming home early as I suddenly lost the feeling in my legs. As soon as I had scans on my spine it was revealed that there was a huge tumor crushing my spinal cord.”

Within 4 weeks of her diagnosis, Martine’s condition worsened and she was paralyzed from the legs down. Doctors told her she had less than 2 years left to live.

Although the couple had been together for 12 years and had given birth to 2 beautiful children, they had somehow never gotten married; but now, Martine’s diagnosis was the motivation they had needed.

She explained, “We’d been engaged for years, but when we heard about my diagnosis, we knew we needed to plan our big day fast”

“It was hectic planning it all in such a short amount of time, but I’ve always wanted to marry Christopher.”

After 4 weeks of planning, it was finally Martine and Christopher’s big day.

But Chris had a surprise planned for their first dance. When their song began to play, he took Martine, lifting her out of her wheelchair to dance so she could dance to their chosen song, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith.

Martine told Daily Mail UK, “I had no idea that Christopher was going to pick up out of my wheelchair, but it was an amazing surprise.”

“Christopher struggled to get me out of my wheelchair at first, but once he’d picked me up properly we were able to enjoy our first dance. Everyone around us was crying and despite it being an emotional day, I loved every second.”

“I’m paralyzed from the waist down but Christopher still managed to ensure we had our first dance in each other’s arms.”
