Claudia Jimenez and her family were trapped inside their apartment, and as the fire blazed, their chances of escaping continued to decrease.

Little did they know that their guardian angel would come in the form of Joe Hollins.

Hollins, a homeless individual, was camping nearby. Meanwhile, Jimenez was trying to look for a way to escape. With the front door blocked by the fire, Jimenez’s desperation intensified

In a last-ditch effort to call for help, she opened her window and cried out for assistance. She was hoping someone would hear her plea for help. Fortunately, Hollins was alerted.

Without a second thought, Hollins rushed to the scene, driven by the urgency of the situation.

Seeing Jimenez at the window, he reassured her that he was there to rescue her and her children. He positioned himself beneath the window and asked the mother to lower her kids into his arms.

“He was right underneath and he was like ‘Yes, throw your daughters out, I’m going to catch them, I’m going to get them,” Jiminez recalled to CBS.

Sensing the man’s sincerity, Jimenez dropped her one-year-old daughter, Valerie, into Hollins’ arms.

Next came eight-year-old Natalie, who, despite the fear, followed her mother’s lead and trusted the stranger below. Even the family’s beloved dogs were safely caught by Hollins.

However, when it came time for Jimenez to make her daring jump, fear overcame her. But Hollins, determined to leave no one behind, assured her that he’d catch her.

“She didn’t want to come at first. She was scared she was going to fall,” Hollins said to CBS. “I was like ‘I got you. Don’t worry.'”

Jimenez and her family were safely reunited, all thanks to a homeless man.

The fire department arrived to battle the flames, and the family expressed their gratefulness to Hollins. Jimenez thanked him profusely, referring to Hollins as her personal angel.

She credited him with saving their lives and ensuring the safety of her precious daughters. Hollins, however, humbly dismissed the praise, stating that anyone would have done the same.

While Jimenez and her family survived the terrifying ordeal, they lost everything they owned.

The devastating fire left numerous families in need, prompting the local community to rally together in support. Community members have started raising funds to aid the survivors so that they can start healing and rebuilding.

The heartwarming story of Joe Hollins, the homeless hero, and Claudia Jimenez’s family serves as a reminder of the inherent goodness and selflessness that exists in humanity.

People all over the internet rooted for everyone’s recovery, especially Hollins’.

“Glad they made it out okay.” One commenter said, “Hopefully, they support and help Joe. He has probably helped more people out in that neighborhood than any of us think.”
