There is an addiction crisis all around the world, so many good people succumb to the temptations of drugs and alcohol. It’s usually a way to cope when life deals you a crappy hand, unfortunately, there aren’t enough resources out there, so people end up on the streets and some even die from their addictions.
In such a gloomy situation, stories like this warm your heart! This lady develops a relationship with a homeless man, then he disappears. Years later they meet again and she finds out he kept his promise!
The homeless man promised he wouldn’t spend the money she gave him on drugs, he kept his promise and they met again years later
Jeanah Nomelli, a first responder who met, Will, 14-years ago while he was digging through the trashcan. At the time, he was homeless and addicted to heroin. When she heard Will’s story, she couldn’t help but feel for the poor guy.
“I asked him what possessed a man to do such a thing… he shared that his wife died unexpectedly and in the wake of her death, he tried heroin- ONE TIME and became addicted. He lost his home and job as a result of his addiction.” Some of what Jeanah posted to Facebook.
Over the next few months, Jeanah and Will developed a close friendship, she liked him more than her partner at the time
After meeting WIll, Jeanah quickly opened her heart to the kind man. They became friends, she even said: ” I liked him more than my partner at the time so I enjoyed seeing him as often as I could.”
The post went on to explain how Will just disappeared one day, Jeanah had no clue what happened to her friend. She often wondered about him, she didn’t know if he was even alive.
Over a decade later, the two friends crossed paths and enjoyed a tearful reunion
One day, out of the blue and many years later, there he was! Jeanah saw Will at a different Chevron, within a matter of seconds, the two recognized each other and embraced. The Facebook post went on to say:
“God allowed our paths to cross again… ironically in a different Chevron. He was waiting for me outside the bathroom. He stood there with tears in his eyes and asked if I remembered him.
It took me about two seconds, and I knew. It was my Will!! He nostalgically reminded me about a pair of boots and a jacket I gave him to make sure he didn’t freeze. I also gave him $7 to get his ID… with a promise that he wouldn’t spend it on drugs.
The heartfelt post continued:
Will kept his promise. He got his ID, a job, and later a wife. Will also found grace in the arms of our heavenly creator. We totally snot cried in the middle of the store before asking the clerk to take our picture.”
The post went viral after Love What Matters shared it on Facebook
Compassion can change the lives of so many, Jeanah shows us how a little bit of love, can go a long way!
