Things may have gotten a little out of hand.
Hoardingโs a somewhat nasty habit, capable of damaging possessions and homes alike. But itโs not entirely uncommon.
My familyโs kept unknown treasures tucked away in the attic for decades. Iโm not sure any of us know what exactlyโs up there at this point.
Like anything, hoarding has degrees. Some people compulsively hoard, blindly becoming a packrat.
In their defense, every heap of trash is littered with at least some treasure.
Recently, a real estate investor by the name of Kevin made the ultimate packrat purchase.

The original ownerโs a hoarder of the highest caliber, stuffing the home wall to wall with anything and everything.
Most of itโs junkโฆ but some of it might be treasure.
He ended up purchasing the home for $450,000. The buyer and seller agreed to include all the excess junk in the deal.
Does that make the house a risky investment? Well, definitely not in this case.
As long as the homeโs in good condition, youโre good to go. You can always sell and toss stuff out.

After purchasing the property, Kevin finally takes a look inside, absolutely amazed by the endless amount of garbage.
One could easily mistake this home for the local dump!
The house looks as if a tornado, hurricane, and earthquake occurred.
Every single corner and crevice, from the living room to the bathroom, brims with trash.

This raises an obvious question โ whatโs Kevin going to do with all this stuff?
He lays out a few options. Plan A: get some friends over and have a scavenger hunt to see who finds the most valuable goods.
The prize? $1000 in cash. That doesnโt seem like a half-bad hunt.
And the race is onโฆ

The crew rummages through the trash and treasure only to find wasted timeโฆ except for a few tantalizing trinkets.
Someone even found a gold watch from 1890!
Yet so much remains to be tossed.

Kevin continues to think outside the box, restrategizing.
Plan B: post a Craiglist ad, opening the house to the public.
Kevin knows what heโs dealing with. This cleaning will take a collective, community effort.
Temporarily, people can just take what they want. If you find it, itโs yours.
Unsurprisingly, people turn up, finding valuables and little knickknacks scattered across the premise.
Someone even found a brand new, unopened coffee machine!

Another person found a drawer full of cash!
So. Many. Coins.
Who doesnโt like free money?

Soon enough, Kevin and the community finally clear the place out.
The entire process took 88 days!
Kudos to Kevin. Iโm not sure Ty Pennington of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition could have done a better job.
Look at all that elbow room!

The transformationโs simply remarkable!
Remember what it used to look like?
Yeah, it was atrocious.

Do you feel that breeze? Those are the winds of change.
The immediate outdoors looks beautiful, too.
Inside and out, this house is a new home.

As Kevin says, โKeep it simple, stupid!โ
Itโs really that simple! He plans to rent it out, turning it into a stream of revenue.
This house has gone through incredible transformations throughout its career. Resiliency has allowed it to take many forms.
Despite coming with some extra baggage, Kevin has always seen this homeโs inner beauty. Oh, and now he can profit from it.
So what do you think of Kevinโs new place? How about that drastic home makeover?
Kevinโs actually a pretty popular YouTube personality. Some of his projects are fascinating to watch.
