Imagine walking down a busy street. The place full of shoppers and people sitting at roadside cafes enjoying a cup of their favorite coffee. Parents and kids hand in hand enjoying the sights and sounds of a busy day.
Out of nowhere, music starts playing and a young lady in cowboy boots walks into the middle of the hustle and bustle and with a smile on her face starts dancing.
These boots are made for walking.
The lady is Lisa McHugh. Born in Glasgow, Scotland from Irish parents, she is a pop country and Irish singer. And she just stopped the the crowd with her incredible act. With her confident stride, she starts clapping to the beat and shuffles her feet much to the surprise of the locals.
After a few steps in, she looks around and starts clapping her hands in the air to welcome in the Struttin Stars from Co. Fermanagh. What a great way to wake up the crowd!
Like a finely tuned machine they fall in with Lisa and start strutting to the beat with obvious delight on their faces.
Look at these ladies go!
The energy is infectious and a crowd has gathered to watch this catchy act. Standing up from a nearby shop are more amazing women who quickly join in and call even more attention to the striking spectacle.
This is what is more popularly known as a flash mob. For the purpose of entertainment and expression, a group of people will assemble out of nowhere and perform for a crowd. These can happen anywhere at any given time.
Imagine the planning and practice required to pull this off. Imagine the confidence!
Interlude between coffee? You bet!
To the tune of her own “Hillbilly Girl,” Lisa leads these amazing women, young and old alike, to a rhythmic clap and step that has now drawn a large crowd of onlookers. With their phones out, some have decided to record this astounding flash mob dance so they can share it with friends.
For each step and twirl, a new smile is formed in the crowd. Sleepy faces are awake and tired bodies are refreshed all because of this high energy dance. And who wouldn’t be?
Everyone needs a good dance every now and then. You go, girls!
He is definitely sharing this.
No one seemed to be bothered at the fact that this group of women stopped their conversations and plans either. After all, anything to take their minds off of the hustle and bustle of life is surely welcome!
And a fabulous job it was! Those long days of careful planning and practicing sure paid off.
Dance is a great way of expressing one’s emotions. It has been a part of human culture since the ancient times. It allows a connection between the performers and the audience and is a gateway to the current state of a person’s well being.
And Galway didn’t mind one bit.
In this fast paced world of movement and development, it’s always a good idea to sit back and enjoy a pleasant surprise every now and then.
“Huge thanks to all of the Struttin Stars who done a fab job!” Lisa posted
So lace up those dancing shoes and put a smile on your face. You never know who’s watching!
