High school competitions are fierce battlegrounds, be it in sports, dance, or academics.
The ultimate dream? Winning the state championship.
A high school drill team from West Covina, California, recently took the stage with a unique barbershop theme, quickly demonstrating why they were crowned state champs.
The all-male team’s incredible talent and teamwork were evident from the start, and it was easy to see why they had won the state championship.
The performance began with four barber stations set up in the middle of the gymnasium, each manned by a drill team member.
The others stood at each chair, holding perfectly still poses.
Their matching outfits, complete with pink button-ups and adorable suspenders, added to the charm.
As the crowd cheered in anticipation, the music started, and the team members smoothly spun into the barber chairs, while those posing as barbers whipped the chair clothes over their new clients.
Every movement was perfectly timed with the music.
Once the haircut was finished, the whole drill team began dancing together.
The teenage boys flawlessly executed their routine, swarming to the middle of the court after the barbering act to put on an amazing dance spectacle.
One team member stood to the side holding a massive, old-school boombox, and the drill team pretended like he was the one playing the music, creating an awesome visual effect.
Their precision was remarkable, with timing being the key, and these kids were right on time.
Every single member was outstanding, gliding across the stage while popping their upper bodies.
The impressive routine embedded all elements of dance, even including some old-school break dancing.
The crowd went wild as they started break dancing, with one team member standing on his hands and bouncing across the stage.
Using simple props, the drill team manipulated gravity with their jaw-dropping moves.
“It’s easy to see why they’re the state champs, I don’t know how it could get any better!” they seemed to proclaim with their performance.
Spinning, shaking, and contorting their bodies was just another day at the park for these talented youngsters.
One team member even ran through a tunnel formed by the team, right before breaking out into the splits.
They were lighting the court on fire, moving like robots as they mimicked each other to a tee.
In the last minute of the performance, the high school drill team turned it up to the max.
Move after move, they fed off the crowd’s energy, giving the performance of a lifetime.
During the finale, they flipped one teammate into a full front flip and ended it with a long football completion that was timed to the music.
The crowd was left in awe, and it was clear that no one could deny these kids their title.
“This is the best drill team ever,” the audience must have thought.
The West Covina High School drill team’s barbershop-themed performance was more than just a dance; it was a testament to their skill, creativity, and teamwork.
Their state championship was well-deserved, and the performance will likely be remembered for years to come.
It’s a reminder that with passion, dedication, and creativity, anything is possible.
