It’s all too easy to get stuck in a routine.
Although it’s good to have a comfortable and familiar way of doing things, there’s something invigorating about shaking things up. There’s obviously a difference between finding a way to do things that works and simply falling into a rut. Nowhere is this phenomenon more clear than personal fashion and appearance.
This story from Rachael Ray’s show is a great example.
In this particular episode, Ray invited on a woman named Mitsy.
Mitsy was 45 years old and seemingly was not a huge fan of haircuts. According to Ray, Mitsy hadn’t changed up her hairstyle in almost 30 years. As a result, her hair had grown to more than 45 inches long! Needless to say, it was finally time to switch things up.
Ray set to work finding help to give Mitsy a fresh new look.
To do it right, Ray enlisted the help of her friend Zanna Roberts Rassi.
For the image-conscious, Rassi is an editor at Marie Claire and a certified fashionista. Rather than just give Mitsy a haircut, Rassi and Ray decided to do her one better and give her a head-to-toe makeover. Mitsy even brought her mother along in the audience to see her incredible change firsthand.
After getting her ready, Ray and her stylists finally decided to cut Mitsy’s hair.
After plenty of build-up, Mitsy came out from backstage—and the audience lost their minds!
It goes without saying that the incredible difference in hair length was shocking enough. Still, there was more to her transformation than that. She’d also been given a whole new look. Instead of the jeans and tie-dye shirts she was so used to wearing, she came out with a sharp new dress!
Mitsy’s mother was nearly beside herself.
Mitsy’s amazing change has spread quickly across the internet.
When asked about how she felt, Mitsy put it as simply as she could:
“I feel so beautiful. It’s like I stepped out of my little shell!”
Everyone on the show seemed to agree as well.
What makes this story so worth talking about is Mitsy’s willingness to transform.
As mentioned, it is all too easy in life to play things safe and to avoid changing out of comfort or routine. Still, some of the best experiences in life come from stretching ourselves out of our comfort zones and finding new ways to be. Mitsy was able to do just that with Ray’s help—and the results speak for themselves.
You go, Mitsy!
