There are so many different types of dancing that it is exciting just trying to keep up with the different styles and new ones that always seem to be presenting themselves.

Teens Step It Out With Coordination Dance

There is a lot to remember about this particular form of dance.

It begins with a group of colored rings being placed on the floor in a strategic fashion. Each row is a different color. Then there are two lines of dancers that look like one line is made up of the boys and the other line is the girls. Each dancer has to small sticks.

The Rhythm Begins

As the music begins the dancers get in touch with the rhythm by using the sticks to beat out the tune while they let their bodies respond to the beat of the music.

Then one dancer from each side jumps into the rings. Their dance moves are identical but they remain in their own color circles.

The Next Step

The first two dancers move up to the next row of colored rings. Then another student from each side joins in by dancing into the first rows.

First Two Leave

The first two students who started the dance leave and two more from the lineups join in. The two that left go to the back of the lineup.
The entire performance continues like this.

The Dance Pattern

The dance steps are not just done at random.

Each dancer knows exactly what moves to make and when. No steps are random and this is why they are not bumping into each other. Each dancer knows exactly when to enter into the circles by watching what position the other dancers are in.

The circles appear to be painted on the floor as they don’t move when they are touched.

Another Version of Coordination Dancing

In this example, the teacher is the lead dancer and her students are younger than the ones in the first example.

There are no colored rings but instead a group of squares. There is one lineup and the teacher is the only one that is using any type of musical instrument. The teacher takes the lead into dancing into the squares and the students follow her lead. Eventually, the teach dances her way out of the squares and the student behind is now the lead.

The Basics

Coordination dancing is taught at a young age and for the little ones, it begins with two simple circles.

The process in this training session is the little ones are playing the old game of “clap your hands” while at the same time learning when to jump in and out of the circles. This is preparing them for the more advanced coordination dancing that was seen with the older students.

Learning The Rhythm First

For the little ones another approach that is taken is getting the kids used to hold simple items to use for developing rhythm while they are standing.

The teacher then shows them some simple dance moves. They are learning here to use both their hands and feet in synchronized motions which sets them up for being able to do the coordination dance routines

A Great Idea

It appears that it is all the Spanish schools that are presenting this type of dance, but it is a dance routine that would do well in all the schools. It is an excellent way of developing coordination with rhythm.
