Ever since we saw that fun video with the wedding party danced up to the altar along to Chris Brown’s “Forever” years ago, we’ve been looking forward to discovering more fun surprise wedding dances online.
There’s one video that took place in Malaga, Spain that has gone viral for the same reason.
This one started like a flash mob with the members of the dance party sitting with the wedding guests. But then, Bruno Mars’ song “Uptown Funk” was heard through the speakers. The men who were part of it put on their black sunglasses and clapped their hands to the music.
Paco and Carmen, the newlyweds, were sitting at their table when the music came on. Some of the men went to them to pull them to the dance floor.
Carmen didn’t know what was going to happen but she was excited!
She just kept dancing to the dance floor and even when she sat down to watch them. The other guests were super excited too and couldn’t sit down.
They wanted to get a front-row seat to what was going to happen next!
When Paco, Carmen, and the dance party reached the dance floor, they directed Carmen to the VIP seat in full view of the floor. Paco joined the rest of the men and proceeded to dance to Bruno Mars.
Fortunately for everyone watching, when the song was over, the dance wasn’t over yet.
Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” blared on the speakers next plus a younger guy, maybe the younger brother or cousin of the bride, joined them. They put on black hats and moonwalked on the dance floor.
And, of course, a wedding dance medley is not complete without Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”.
Paco and his men rocked the dance and we’re pretty sure some of them got rings on their finger before the ceremony was over. The Backstreet Boys made an appearance, too, when they danced to their song, “Everybody.”
This 5-minute dance sequence ended with an Asian twist when they danced to Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”
Wedding dances like this are always a fun addition to the wedding ceremony. It’s always exciting and livens up the wedding.
And if you want to plan something like this for your wedding, there are some few tips you need to keep in mind.
Before anything else, make sure that your venue can accommodate your dance. If the dance floor is small, you might have to cut down the number of people dancing with you.
And talk the coordinator to include the dance in the program. It may only be three to four minutes but it needs to be perfectly timed and won’t bump into the other parts of the program.
Choose the song you want to include.
It doesn’t have to be all the songs already. Sometimes, one song can get you started. That song can be the beginning of the dance or the ending. It could be the groom and the bride’s favorite song. If you and your dance party are not really used to dancing in public, try to pick a fun song that’s easy to get excited about.
For the dance moves, you can either go online and look for easy dance moves you can easily do. Or you can hire a choreographer to create the dance for you.
And, of course, practice regularly. And most importantly, during practice and during performance day, have fun!
