Death is an inevitable part of life and there is absolutely nothing that we can do to change that fact – not now, not tomorrow, and not in a million years.

It’s sad to think that, one day, we will also go to eternal rest.

While thinking about it is fearsome, seeing our loved ones go, on the other hand, inflicts that unimaginable fear. It’s an immense amount of pain that is so hard to bear, let alone move on from.

Losing a loved one is perhaps one of the most painful things that will happen in our lives. And this painful part of life becomes even more heartbreaking thinking that it may not be just once that it’s going to happen.

“Move on”

It’s always easier said than done, moving on from the heartache caused by losing a loved one. Moving on is not just hard, it’s extremely hard.

I personally lost my aunt just recently and her jolly innocent face still haunts me every time.

Lucky are those who could instantly move forward from a loss and continue living as if they didn’t lose someone dear to their hearts.

Well, I guess that’s how things should suppose to work, right? You stumble, fall, and get back up on your feet.

But for those who are having a hard time, seeking advice online might help.

Online forums give everyone a free platform to ask people online about anything under the sun.

But as we all know, the world wide web is a dangerous place, so you better be careful what you wish or ask for.

This woman, in particular, thought of asking people on Reddit for advice on how to cope with pain.

Sadly, she lost her very dear best friend.

She was hurt and mourning over her death. She wanted to know how to go about enduring the pain left by her departed buddy.

She just couldn’t get over the sad fact that she will never be able to hug her best friend – never ever again.

“My friend died. I don’t know what to do.”

A lot of Reddit users responded to the woman’s post and they all shared their own painful experiences from losing a loved one.

Most of them also extended their condolences to the grieving woman.

One comment, however, stood out among the rest and gained the highest upvote on Reddit.

A factual yet beautiful response that came from a self-confessed old man.

Get your tissues ready.

“I’ve lost friends, best friends, acquaintances, co-workers, grandparents, mom, relatives, teachers, mentors, students, neighbors, and a host of other folks. I have no children, and I can’t imagine the pain it must be to lose a child. But here’s my two cents,” the “old man” started.

He also shared that every time he had lost a loved one, his heart broke into smithereens, but he wouldn’t want it any other way.

The old man wanted all his losses to matter to and to hurt because his scars from each loss simply proved that all of them mattered to him.

At the end of the day, it’s okay not to be okay.

All feelings are valid and if someone dear to your heart passes away, allow yourself to be hurt because that’s how it’s supposed to be.
