February of 2016 is when it hit — the infamous “dress” hit the internet and people went absolutely nuts. The entire world of the Internet couldn’t seem to agree on what color the dress was.
Was it white and gold or blue and black? People were holding their ground on their solid opinions on this very “important” matter. It caused rifts between family members and quarrels between friends on Facebook.
I mean — this was serious! But then, just like that — the dress vanished from our news feed and life on the internet went on as usual.
Well, I hate to break it to you — but it’s happening again. If the last one drove you crazy, you might want to stop right here.
There’s another outfit color debate taking over the internet. What color is this workout outfit?!
We all have a woman named Rachel Stewart to thank for this internet color debacle. On July 3rd, she posted a picture on Facebook with the caption, “Dunno how others see anything other than pink and white?”
Of course, this post started circulating virally. Within just 3 days, Rachel’s post was shared over 1,300 times with 857 comments of people weighing in on the matter.
Outrage ensued as people argued whether the outfit was indeed pink and white or whether it was gray and teal.
Leave it to the internet to turn something completely innocent and totally-not-important into the most pressing issue of our time. Regardless — people were completely firm on their stance.
Chances are that you’re unable to see the opposite combination once you’ve seen it one way. Our minds decide on a perception and it’s extremely hard to trick it into seeing the opposite.
A few people are capable of seeing both color combinations. Like this woman who saw one color combination one day and the other a different day.
It’s unclear why different people perceive totally different color hues. ABC says it can even be affected by things like the time of day or ambient lighting that may be around.
Rachel Stewart, the original poster, and owner of the outfit confirms that the outfit, is indeed, teal and gray. Although, this isn’t stopping the “pink and white” voters from changing their minds! As for me? I almost think I’m seeing three colors, is that even possible?
Still unsure on what colors you’re seeing? Here’s a close-up of the photo.
