There are phases in life people go through where they might try out a new look. However, that doesn’t mean that everyone agrees it’s a good fit!
Scott Cleveland decided to grow a beard just like many other men do. While he may have liked it – his Grandmom thought he should shave it off.
When you love someone a lot, you tend to do things that will make them the happiest. That’s why Scott told his 98-year-old grandma that he’d get rid of his beard for her 100th birthday.
For four years she had disliked Scott’s beard, and two years she waited in anticipation for her 100th birthday. It was going to be one sweet gift to finally see her handsome grandson’s face again.
It was finally the day she had been hoping for!
On Grandmom’s 100th birthday, Scott made true to his word and prepared to shave off his facial hair. Of course, the event wouldn’t be as much fun if she wasn’t there to witness it herself.
So in the bathroom Scott went with his electric shaver. His grandma sat in her wheelchair right outside the door so she could watch the “present opening” up close.
As soon as Scott starts buzzing away, the woman starts clapping. She had waited a long time to experience the amazing moment.
Fortunately, the good-hearted grandson had someone filming the entire scene. But the party was just beginning.
Scott allowed the birthday girl to get in on the action and do some of the shaving herself. Oh, what a satisfying feeling that must have been. For four long years, she must have dreamt of it.
Slowly the “real” Scott begins to emerge and he looks like a movie star. Or to Grandmom, the grandson she remembered most.
She says,
“I’m glad to see you again!”
Not all of us like big fancy gifts, or even material objects at all. It can be the special gestures that mean the most. And for Grandmom, having Scott shave his beard with the best…present…ever!
So, did Scott do it again for his granny’s 101st birthday?
It turns out that the one time was just enough for his Grandmom. Scott wrote on his YouTube channel that,
“She didn’t ask me to shave and was simply happy to have a great day with friends and family.”
Scott’s fun video is so sweet it’s been viewed over a million times. People seem to really agree with Grandma about liking his clean-shaven appearance.
One person wrote:
“What a handsome fine young man you are without that beard. Congratulations to your Grandma and Happy Birthday!!”
Other commenters thought Grandma was the one looking good.
“Grandma doesn’t look a day over 90! She looks great!”
Sadly, a few years after the video was posted on YouTube, Scott provided another update. It turns out that Grandmom’s now watching him from up above.
“Wanted to let y’all know that Grandmom moved on today, making it to 103. We were so lucky to know such a wonderful woman for so long. She brought a lot of joy to our lives and we’re glad this video could share just a little of that. Thank y’all for all of the wonderful comments and love.”
The fact that Scott was able to make his grandma’s 100th birthday extra special by shaving his beard, is something their family will always remember.
