A grandfather will always do grandfather things.

When dads are blessed with grandchildren, they take this opportunity to have a go once more at parenting.

And as grandparents, they only have two main goals – feed their grandchildren and spoil the heck out of them.

A grandfather from Minnesota took this up a notch when he surprised his grandkids with an entire tourist attraction right in their backyard.

A video shot by Nicole Warner revealed features of the amazing winter wonderland project.

According to Warner, this was the first time her dad made a project as big as a sledding course.

He did, however, use his experience in building ice rinks when Warner and her siblings were growing up.

The course is amazing.

It has a safe incline which makes it perfect for kids because they can slide down without speeding up so fast or at least fast enough for that childhood thrill.

The course was also adorned with decorations.

The boundaries are marked with strings of fairy lights hanging across the channels.

The decorations illuminate the course efficiently while also transporting the kids into a magical winter world.

Warner said that her father spent around 80 hours just building this project!

It was also possible because, at that time, Minnesota was experiencing constant snow.

To show their appreciation, the grandkids convened and voted to name the backyard tourist attraction “Papa Bear Plunge.”

The children obviously enjoyed the 200-foot-long course.

The kids even dressed up in their best and warmest clothes because they knew they’d be using the course for hours on end, which they did.

The kids took turns sliding down.

The older siblings didn’t forget their youngest and placed her between their legs so the youngest could have a go at it.

Sleigh Ride aptly accompanied the viral video on TikTok by The Ronettes.

Their grandfather’s grand gesture was already played over 200,000 times and had over 20,000 interactions.

In a follow-up video, more of his grandkids enjoyed the Papa Bear Plunge.

The cousins slid down together, with the youngest one hilariously struggling to move her sled.

People all over the internet, especially on TikTok, praised the grandfather’s tremendous efforts.

The people are already awarding him the unofficial grandpa of the year award for 2022 and possibly for 2023.

“Holy cow I’m jealous! Can I be in your family?” said one comment.

Other comments also echoed the sentiment saying how lucky the kids are with their grandpa.

Others also pointed out one of the most important things the grandfather gave his grandkids.

They emphasized the gift of fond memories as these children will always remember that one Christmas season when they slid down over the backyard snow.

This grandpa definitely raised the bar.

And once the snowfall of 2023 comes in later this year, we hope to see more of these backyard sled courses and more kids with happy memories.
