No one likes to talk about the ins and outs of aging.

This is a mistake in a way, as we can’t be young forever. Start a conversation regarding age and you’ll be met with different reactions. Sure, you may be strong, healthy, and agile now but before you know it, the numbers begin to pile up. It leaves you wondering where all those odd aches and pains are coming from.

However, there seems to be a trend now where the goal is to age gracefully. For men and women, it is now fashionable to be of age and still be desirable.

You can go ahead and thank George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Johnny Depp, Cindy Crawford and many others for that.

So, if you’re worried about how you will look or even feel a few decades from now, take heart in this inspiring grandma.

How old is this wonder woman, you ask? She is 82.

Now, regardless if she was a dancer back in her day, you cannot deny the fact that most elderly men and women would give anything to be able to do what she’s doing here.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is an 82-year-old woman dancing the Charleston. No easy feat even for the younger crowds today.

Since we’re talking about age here, let’s rewind… The Charleston originated from African-American communities. Those guys lived on an island off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina with their earliest origins going back to Central Africa.

Fast forward to the 20s when women wanted to break free of social restraints, including the wearing of corsets and being told to behave a certain way. The dance was perfect. It had a rebellious flair to it where they could strut and kick all they want without a care if their skirts flew up with their legs. They were called the Flappers.

Grandma, at a very young and carefree 82, still has her legs. Her posture is impressive too. She stands straight, a huge smile on her face, defying the stigma commonly associated with the elderly.

No bar or club needed here. She’s got her kitchen which works fine for her.

She is giving everyone a look at how the roaring twenties were. Back to the time when men and women were getting rid of the strict, conservative ways and giving birth to new clothes, actions, and attitudes.

Women cut their hair and skirts, everyone drank and smoked, and dancing became uninhibited.

Look how much fun she’s having!

Those kicks are really high even for younger dancers. Grandma’s looking good in her black dress and expensive-looking necklaces too!

She truly is young at heart and presses on for a good two minutes just kicking, spinning, and even striking a pose for the camera. She just goes left, right, back, and side with her arms swinging along to her movements. She can still cut a rug!

She’s a spirited lady and we can only hope to be that strong when the day comes.
