Aging can be hard for a woman. In a culture where females are valued based on looks, the appearance of grey hair and wrinkles can be hard for anyone to accept. Even women who have spent their entire lives working and raising families somehow don’t feel like they’re enough unless they look like a walking fashion model.
Mary Johnsen is a grandmother who had been dealing with some tough times.
Like most women, Mary was in the process of aging, when her entire world started to fall apart. It seemed like everywhere she looked, friends and family members were passing away. One death is hard enough to deal with but experiencing a handful in a year is enough to break anyone. In a pre-recorded interview, Mary said:
“Last year has been really stressful. A lot of deaths, and family, and people we know from church, and we have a good friend right now who is in hospice.”
“My mother passed away in November, so that’s hard.”
Mary was so caught up in her grieving, she hadn’t had time to take care of herself.
“She doesn’t really think that she’s pretty,” Mary’s granddaughter told the camera.
“”And she is. I just want her to be able to see that in herself.”
To help Mary see her own beauty and regain her shining light, Mary’s granddaughter set up an appointment with Christopher Hopkins, the famous Makeover Guy.
For those who don’t know, Christopher Hopkins is a makeover master, having been featured on national programs including The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Today Show. His salon has been named modern salon of the year, and he also runs a successful YouTube channel where he showcases his impressive makeover transformations with people around the world.
When it comes to Hopkins’ makeovers, his specialty is mature women. He doesn’t focus so much on the young ladies and instead likes to help mature females regain the confidence they’ve lost in their later years. When Hopkins’ heard Mary’s story, he knew she’d be the perfect fit.
In this video, posted to Rumble, you get to see Mary’s incredible transformation.
She looks nervous as she sits in the chair— but if anyone can transform her confidence, she’s come to the right place.
“There’s been all these changes and I want a good change,” she says.
Hopkins and Mary chat a bit before getting to work.
Then, Hopkins chops and colors Mary’s hair, giving her a look that leaves her granddaughter stunned.
Since being uploaded to Rumble, Mary’s makeover has been viewed nearly 3 million times. It’s wonderful because it’s not just Mary’s style that changes— her entire personality seems to light up.
