Grandma’s “Fail” At Putting Baby To Bed Has Everyone Losing It
It was all caught on tape and likely grandma will never live this down.

If you have children or have ever been in charge of putting a baby to bed, you know what a delicate process it is. You have to be incredibly careful with the way you set the baby down, because, sometimes after hours of rocking, you can wake them up, only to have to start the whole process over.

Unfortunately, grandmother Valerie Sharp didn’t manage the quiet night she was planning for her 11-month-old granddaughter Lola very well.

In baby monitor footage that has gone viral, Sharp was seen trying to delicately put Lola down in her crib. Instead, she went head over heels, falling into the crib alongside the baby.

The problem is pretty easy to see: Sharp doesn’t have much in the height department.

In fact, she’s only 5’1.”.

“If I don’t use the step stool, my arms are a foot away from the bottom of the crib,” she said. “I would have to drop the baby onto the mattress, and she would wake up.”

The video footage shows Sharp holding the sleeping baby and trying to climb up on the stepstool.

Suddenly, her feet fly into the air. She can be seen checking to make sure the baby is all right. Then she sits up and smooths her hair back into place.

“It kind of happened rather quickly,” she said. “I was so thankful that the way that I had her in my arms, my body didn’t touch her or hit her in any way as I went down. The worst that happened was that I jolted the mattress, and with that, she woke up.”

Thankfully, Lola was completely fine, although her grandmother didn’t get off completely scot-free.

As the video ends, the baby can be seen sitting up grumpily and starting to cry, upset at being woken.

Sharp’s daughter Nikki Bishop was amused when she saw the baby monitor footage. So, like any good daughter, she decided to upload it to Facebook. But she never expected it to take off as it did.

Bishop was surprised when she woke up to find the video already had 90 views.

Mere hours later, the count had climbed to 4,000, and she knew she had to tell her mom what was going on. And it didn’t stop there, racking up millions of views over the next few days. The internet couldn’t get enough of the grandma who toppled into the crib — especially with the way she checked her hair afterward.

To date, the video has well over 61 million views.

Although Sharp initially felt surprised, then exasperation about everyone seeing her backside at she topples head over heels into the crib, she’s taking the publicity all in stride.

“My friend said to me, ‘You’ve made millions of people laugh or smile today’, so I guess that’s a good thing,” she said. “I did feel bad it happened, and I am glad we are both okay. But I think people need a good laugh right now.”
