These days, itโs common for people to feel anxious and scared when theyโre walking alone in the streets. This is particularly true for women.
Shalhea Oliver was out with her dog to buy some things from the store.

She thought it was perfectly fine for them to go out by themselves. She was living in a not-so-bad neighborhood. Plus, she had her dog with her.
However, something unexpected happened when they were in the checkout line.

A drunk man started bothering her and her dog, Marlo. A rescued animal from Henderson Animal Shelter, the dog tried his best to ease Shalheaโs anxiety while making sure the drunk man couldnโt do any harm.

The man didnโt stop at the checkout line.

Things got even scarier for Shalhea when the man started following her down the street on a bike. In addition to that, he was also saying awful things to her.
The drunk man was insisting that Marlo tried to bite his dog.
He even told her that he was going to file a lawsuit. He kept saying the same things as he followed the pair home.
At that point, Shalhea was really terrified.

She was alone with her dog. Plus, the man wouldnโt stop harassing her.
Fortunately, a good Samaritan came to her rescue.

A woman named Debbie saw what was happening. Noticing how terrified Shalhea was, she decided to take action.
Debbie was driving at that time.
She slowed down and rolled her windows down. Thatโs when Shalhea screamed for help and told her about the manโs abusive behavior.
Without any fear in her, Debbie commanded the drunk man to leave the poor woman alone.
Then, she told the pair to get inside the car. She wanted to make sure that theyโd be able to get home safely.

In an interview with Fox 5 Las Vegas, Shalhea shared:
โWhen I first got in the car, Debbie asked me instantly, โAre you ok? Are you hurt?โโ โI said, โYeah, Iโm fine,โ but I was very anxious and she seen that in my voice and she was like โItโs ok. Calm down. Iโm going to make sure you get home safely.โโ
And thatโs exactly what Debbie did.
She drove the pair home. As soon as they were able to get out of the car, she left without demanding anything in return.
Shalhea wanted to express how thankful she is for Debbie and what she did that day.

Even though they werenโt able to talk a lot after what happened, she considers Debbie her unsung hero. And for that, she wanted to send a message to her. In the same interview, she said:
โI appreciate you and thank you so much for getting me home safely that night.โ
With so many things going on these days, itโs important for people to look after each other. Allow yourself to be a โDebbieโ to any โShalheaโ needing help today.
